    Eficiencia del consumo eléctrico en el sector residencial urbano de Cuenca

    This paper analyzes the efficiency of electricity consumption in the city of Cuenca. Hence the objective of this thesis is to examine the implementation of strategies to reduce the consumption of electricity urban residential customers CENTROSUR, applying concepts of efficiency and recommendations for saving energy. It was necessary to review the current energy situation of Ecuador and energy efficiency programs applied to the residential sector as: replacing incandescent light bulbs with energy saving light bulbs, replacing inefficient refrigerators and the national program for efficient cooking. Likewise an analysis of new power generation projects under construction, its contribution to the change in the energy mix for 2017 was performed. A technical analysis of the end uses of electricity in Cuenca was then performed. Obtained these data the study area residential customers CENTROSUR was determined it was necessary to locate the place with the highest population concentration, focusing the study area in urban parishes of Cuenca. Finally they approach to estimate the power consumption per household were conducted, with 317 kWh monthly average energy demand by customers without using any energy efficiency, compared with 224 kWh monthly energy applying concepts of energy efficiency and energy saving . With these results it was determined that if possible to get the electric bill reduction and the reduction of CO2 emissions to the environment.
