In recent years, a large number of students have chosen to seek opportunities for economic and professional growth, which has resulted in the need to migrate from their places of origin to cities that host higher education institutions. Upon arriving in a new city, students face a number of challenges, such as adaptation to a new environment, family life and emotional relationships. These issues can have a significant impact on their ability to successfully pursue a university career. Therefore, it is important to analyze and understand the factors that influence the adaptation of university students to their new environment, in order to provide effective solutions that allow them to achieve their academic and personal goals. In this study, a quantitative approach methodology with an exploratory-descriptive design was used. The survey technique and the questionnaire were used as instruments to collect data, which were processed using the SPSS program. The questionnaire was applied to 404 students of which 79 were in a situation of internal migration. In addition, the results were presented through tables and graphs that facilitated the interpretation of the findings. Among the most important aspects that have hindered adaptation to the educational environment, the lack of emotional support was identified. Likewise, the economic factor plays an important role in the adaptation to the educational environment.
