Item Actitudes y conductas de salud oral de estudiantes de Odontología de la Universidad de Cuenca 2014(2015) Lafebre Carrasco, Milton Fabricio; Cobos Carrera, Diego Fernando; Arévalo Peláez, Carlos Eduardo; Charry Ramírez, José Ricardo; Torracchi Carrasco, Aldo MateoThe aim of this survey was the attitudes and behavior in dental students of the School of Dentistry at the University of Cuenca, and the use of Hiroshima dental behavior dental inventory (HU-DBI). This survey included students from first to fifth year and candidates for postgraduate programs and postgraduate students. A survey was conducted to freshmen to fifth year and included leveling students and graduate students, the total number of respondents was 460 students which included students from first to fifth, leveling and graduate students, a response rate found of 87.47%, where 256 (66.7%) were women, 128 (33.33%) were men, most urban origin 96.3%, the index number HU-DBI was for preclinical students with DS 8.89 and 1,542 students with clinical experience with DS 1.485 9.49. In this study we found no difference in rates between men and women, and the fact this rate increases with education of theoretical and increases further contact with patients, which is maintained, and that graduate students have lower rates of HU-DBI than students of 4th and 5th year, a finding that requires further studyItem Comparison of the HU-DBI index between areas of health sciences and other areas of the University of Cuenca, 2016(2018) Lafebre Carrasco, Milton Fabricio; Reinoso Carrasco, Julieta Del carmen; Serrano Delgado, Clara Yamilet; Cobos Carrera, Diego Fernando; Torracchi Carrasco, Aldo MateoThe University is the place where the students learn and develop skills that will allow them to pursue an occupation, and at the same time improve their attitudes, health skills, that allow them to have healthy living habits and lifestyle. Dental health is an essential part of health and represents an important element for the quality of life. In this sense it is intended to evaluate the attitudes and behaviors of dental health using the approved index Hiroshima University Dental Behavior Inventory (HU-DBI) among the different areas of knowledge of the University of Cuenca. This study was a survey with Sociodemographic variables and 20 dichotomous questions of the HUDBI, which was applied after signing the informed consent forms in all the training areas of the University of Cuenca. The response rate was 56% N=7790 students, with an average age of 21,15 years, DS±2,42 variance of 5,89, the male-female ratio is 1:1,07. The majority of students are of the urban origin with 82,8% and the vast majority are single (7125 students=91,4%). The average of the HU-DBI index is 6,06 with a DS±1,81 and a variance of 3,27. There is a better index of the students of health science compared with the students of other areas. Comparing them with the dental students and the others of the health sciences, dental students who had no clinical contact with patients didn’t have any difference from those of the other health sciences, but the students who have had the clinical contact with patients have a statistically significant difference with the other students of health sciences. 2010-2015.(2018) Reinoso Quezada, Santiago José; Torracchi Carrasco, Aldo Mateo; Villavicencio Caparó, EbingenIntroduction Orofacial Cleft, in particular cleft lip and palate (LPF) constitute a problem of oral health due to its implications and impact in several aspects; Little has been studied of how much socioeconomic factors determine this pathology, such as: the place of housing, whether rural or urban, the age and educational level of the mother and socioeconomic. The objective was to determine the association between age and educational level of the mother at the time of delivery, the area of residence, access to folic acid consumption and socioeconomic level (social determinants) with the risk of having a child with cleft lip and palate in the city of Cuenca. Methodology. An observational, analytical, retrospective study of 138 cases (patients with cleft lip and palate) of hospitals Vicente Corral Moscoso and José Carrasco Arteaga and 162 controls of the same hospitals; Results. The association between socioeconomic level and LPF diagnosis shows an OR = 5,077 (CI 3,098-8,320) p <0.01. The association between the age of the mother and the diagnosis of LPF shows an OR = 1,782 (CI 1,090-2,911) for age at risk (adolescent mother and aged mother) p <0.021 and the association between the mother's educational level and the LPF diagnosis showed an OR = 6,106 (CI 3,690-10,105) p <0.000. The association between folic acid consumption by the mother and the diagnosis of LPF OR = 2,791 (IC 1.687-4.167) p <0.000 Conclusions. There is an interaction between the studied variables (place of residence, mother's level of education, folic acid consumption in pregnancy and socioeconomic level) that determine a higher probability of having a child with LPF.Item Estudio comparativo de la calidad de vida entre pacientes alcohólicos internados y pacientes alcohólicos que acuden a terapia de rehabilitación(2003) Torracchi Carrasco, Aldo Mateo; Vega Brito, Carlos Alberto; Pacurucu Castillo, Saúl FranciscoItem Frecuencia de mortalidad y factores asociados en pacientes con trauma severo que se aplicó hipotensión permisiva en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso desde el 1 de noviembre de 2012 al 31 de octubre de 2015(2018) Reinoso Naranjo, Jeovanni Homero; Salamea Molina, Juan Carlos; Torracchi Carrasco, Aldo MateoINTRODUCTION Severe trauma has a 10% death prevalence worldwide. In our country, it constitutes a real public health problem, generally affecting healthy people in their productive age, and rating first as a cause of death and disability. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the mortality frequency and associated factors in patients with severe trauma who were applied permissive hypotension in the Trauma and Emergency service of the “Vicente Corral Moscoso” Hospital. MATERIAL AND METHOD: This research was 107 medical histories. Descriptive statistics were employed, including central tendency measures as well as dispersion, frequency, and percentage measures. Bivariate statistics were also used, such as the t-test and Chi-square, p value < 0,05, OR with IC at 95%, as well as the logistic regression multivariate analysis. RESULTS: It was determined that the largest number of injuries were men (90%) and the most frequent mechanism of injury was by short-pricking weapon (56%); the prevalence of death is 10.3% of all severe traumas. A mortality rate of 1 was established in 75 cases with severe trauma, with permissive hypotension (prevalence 1.3%); while with conventional therapy the mortality was 10 in 32 cases. CONCLUSIONS: A lower frequency of mortality was determined in cases with severe trauma, with permissive hypotension being applied in the Trauma and Emergency service, resulting in a lower prevalence of mortality of 1.3%.Item Relación entre consumo de alcohol con sucesos de vida estresantes y estrategias de afrontamiento en estudiantes de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-2016(2017) González Maldonado, Rosana de Lourdes; Aguilar Sizer, Mónica Elisa; Torracchi Carrasco, Aldo MateoObjective: To determine the association between alcohol consumption, stress reduction coping strategy and stressful life events experienced in the last year in students of the Social, Humanities and Arts education area of the University of Cuenca. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional analytical study. A datasheet for the collection of socioeconomic data, Vital Events Scale or Life Events, Adolescent Coping Scale (ACS) for adults and questionnaire for the identification of Alcohol Dependence Disorders was applied to 319 university students: AUDIT. In the statistical analysis frequencies and percentages were used; Contrasting the hypothesis with bivariate analysis and binary logistic regression to complement the multivariate analysis. The data were collected directly from the students in the faculties of the areas of Social, Humanities and Arts and analyzed in the SPSS program. Results: In the study students of the Faculties of Economy (25.4%), Philosophy (18.2%), Psychology (8,8), Arts (11,9%), Jurisprudence (20,4) and Hospitality 15.4). 45.6% were men, the average age was 21.15 years with ED of 1.59; The prevalence of alcohol consumption among youngsters was 54.2%. The variables that were significantly associated with problematic alcohol consumption among the young were: sex in which the men had a value of p = 0.000 (95% CI 2,256-6,058), the life event where "Complications in a fight" Are considered with a value of p = 0.031 (95% CI of 1.094-6.307) and the coping strategy known as Stress Reduction showing a value of p = 0.004 (95% CI of 1.259-3.498). There was no relationship between risky or problematic consumption with ethnicity, or family models with which young people live, as well as the presence of considerable levels of stress that may generate risk association. Conclusions: There is a relationship between alcohol consumption and the coping strategy known as stress reduction in young people during the last year
