The purpose of this research is to analyze the innovation activities introduced in the MSMEs (micro, small and medium-sized enterprises) of the tourism-focused cultural sector of the city of Cuenca, for this study the innovation classification recommended by the OECD (2005) was used in the Oslo manual separating innovation into four types: product, process, organization and marketing. In addition, it was identified whether the innovation introduced was radical or incremental. This study has fundamentally a quantitative approach, data collection was used to test the hypotheses, based on a statistical analysis. The scope of the research in the first stage was descriptive, the data collection was carried out at a single moment, that is, it is a crosscutting study of non-experimental type. The procedure used to collect the data was a structured and previously validated questionnaire, which was applied to the person who, given his position or management responsibilities, has current information about the developments or improvements introduced in the company. The results show that the cultural MSMEs that have carried out innovation activities in their companies experienced an economic, social improvement and competitive advantage. In addition, it is noted that these companies obtain several benefits that allow them to improve the quality of their products and services.
