    Objective. – To know the features of scientific journal articles from the Faculty of Medicine, period 2000 -2012. Materials and methods. – Descriptive study, done by review of articles published in the Journal of Faculty of Medical Sciences, period 2000-2012. The data collection instrument was a proven form, which consist of bibliometric indicators. The results were processed in the SPSS 15.00 system. RESULTS. – Most articles were published in 2012 totaling 32; 207 males and 117 female authors; characterized by a single author in 46%; original works predominated with 51.6%; quantitative in 50.8%. A 56.4% of the articles don’t comply with Vancouver norms. International collaboration is 3.9%; and inter-institutional collaboration 7.8%; of which 2.3% do so with the MSP. 52.3% of the articles have co-authored. Inter-institutional coauthored with 15.6% of articles. The hospital is the place where most of the research took place, being the patients the biggest beneficiaries with 39%. The most frequent references were books with 83.6% and magazines with 52.3%. CONCLUSIONS. – The study shows that most of the articles published were descriptive quantitative studies in which no Vancouver norms were applied. The impact factor and H factor were neither found in any article. KEYWORDS.
