(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-07-08) Quizhpe Ochoa, Edisson Ismael; Tenezaca Pacheco, Anthony Steven; Méndez Barbecho, Nancy Alexandra
Nursing professionals fulfill various roles, such as: research, teaching, assistance, administration of services, among others. In the hospital environment, they have to work night shifts and work on holidays; this is in addition to the fact that the majority of the staff are women, who are responsible for extra-occupational tasks such as caring for the home and their children. This leads to a work overload that directly affects the quality of life of this population. The objective of the study was to determine the quality of life of the professional nursing staff of the “Vicente Corral Moscoso” hospital, Ecuador 2024 - 2025. A quantitative study of cross-sectional analytical design was carried out, the sample was non-probabilistic respecting proportionality quotas giving us a sample of 170. The structured interview technique was applied, the instruments applied were a sociodemographic - labor card and the WHOQOL-BREF instrument to measure the quality of life. The results showed that 80.6% of the professional nursing personnel have a regular quality of life, while 19.4% have a good quality of life and no participant scored poor quality of life. As for the dimensions of quality of life, the highest score was the psychological dimension with 66.68%, followed by social relations with 64.5%, the environment with 62.94% and the lowest score was obtained for the physical health dimension with 59.73%.
