Cuenca 2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-02-11) Tenezaca Alao, Diego Antonio; Reinoso Naranjo, Jeovanni HomeroBackground: Cholecystitis is considered one of the most common causes of abdominal pain; represents about 3-10% of patients with abdominal pain. Objective: To determine the degree of severity of acute cholecystitis according to the Parkland Scale and associated factors in patients over 18 years of age who attend the emergency service of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. Cuenca 2020. Methodological design: Quantitative, analytical and cross-sectional study, with a sample of 200 patients. The data were obtained from the clinical history to apply the Parkland scale to classify the severity of cholecystitis. The characterization was carried out using descriptive statistics; the association between variables through the prevalence ratio and statistical significance according to the value of p <0.05 and the 95% confidence interval. The SPSS v25 programs were used. Results: 49.0% are 35–64 years old with an average of 39.0 ± 14.9 years; 62.5% are women; 56.0% are overweight and 16.5% are obese. 49.5% have Parkland Grade III. 57.0% had symptoms of up to 3 days. Parkland's degrees of severity were found to be significantly associated with surgical time greater than 72 min (GI p = 0.018; GII p = 0.037; GIII p = 0.014; GIV p = 0.005; GV p <0.001), obesity (GII p = 0.041; GV p = 0.029), symptom onset time less than 3 days (GIII p = 0.048; GIV p = 0.041; GV p = 0.016), leukocytosis (GV p = 0.005), female sex (GV p = 0.015) and conversion of surgery (GV p <0.001). Conclusions: The Parkland scale for cholecystitis is applicable to patients at Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso.Item Prevalencia y causas de histerectomía en mujeres atendidas en el Departamento de Ginecología y Obstetricia del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga de la Ciudad de Cuenca en el año 2012(2014) Arias Arias, Patricia Carolina; Tenezaca Alao, Diego Antonio; Ñauta Baculima, Manuel JaimeHysterectomy is the surgical procedure through which the removal of the uterus is achieved. It is located within the surgical procedures performed more frequently after caesarean section. Often, hysterectomy is important for treatment of female pathology resource; whether in the field of gynecology or obstetrics constitute an important resource that can save the life of the patient. Objective: To determine the prevalence and causes of hysterectomy in women attending the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga in the city of Cuenca. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive study of cross section, which was performed by obtaining information on the statistics department of the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga city of Cuenca in 2012, with a sample of 218 patients. Medical records, file services statistics and pathology were reviewed; Data were collected on a previously designed form. Data were entered and analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The mean age was at 47.53 years with a SD of 8.3 years. The prevalence of hysterectomies was 15.36% of all patients with surgery. The most common gynecologic pathology found in women a hysterectomy is performed fibroids corresponds to 55.96% of the total. Obstetric pathology showed placenta accreta corresponds to a single case equivalent to 0.45%. The most frequent approach was 88.5% with total abdominal hysterectomy type. Conclusion: Hysterectomy is the second most common surgery performed after cesarean section and its most common cause is uterine fibroids.
