Item Anteproyecto arquitectónico para el templo de la Iglesia Asamblea de Dios en Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-10-28) Villa Llivicura, Marco Eduardo; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínTReligion, one of the main characters in the history of humanity, has had different roles in human development. From its very beginning to this day, places of worship have housed their believers and congregations, giving rise to the development and constitution of a space called The Temple. This space has been considered sacred, where people chose to build the abode of the gods, according to their belief or ideology. Humanity through the ages and its geographical location has had very diverse manifestations in terms of faith and its religious doctrine. Of the many beliefs and religions, Christianity has stood out; people’s faith in a redeeming Christ has crossed time, borders and ideologies. As faith in Christ and his ancestor’s lineage has been gaining adherents, the places for worship of the Christian God have also multiplied, initiating their first concentrations in underground and prehistoric spaces. Architecture did not take long to be present in the construction of places for Christian worship. The first Temples were places with basic spaces, and as the religion grew, the Architecture of the Temples took greater relevance until reaching its peak over all constructions. After the fragmentation of the Roman Catholic. Church with the Reformation, led by Martin Luther in Germany in the 16th century, Protestant temples appeared as a solution to a new doctrine of Christian religious practice. Given the lack of a study of the Evangelical Christian temples in the City of Cuenca, this work that pursues my degree will propose a preliminary design for a temple of the congregation of the Assembly of God in Cuenca. For a design approach, it was very essential to make a historical analysis of the church and its establishment in Ecuador, and the origins of the Evangelical Christian Church. Once we’ve studied, and it’s clear the canon practiced by its believers; it will help to know the present needs within the congregation. Along with the historical analysis, it was necessary to know and study some cases of local and foreign Christian temples that are active in the city. Exploring their strengths gives a vital input in order to integrate into the design concepts. In the proposal raised as a preliminary draft level, design principles have been established that will fit to the demands of this place of worship, which combines complementary activities, such as administrative, educational and service areas. The proposed technology is linked to the existing construction practices in the environment, the materials used goes accordingly to the technology, being the main goods to use in the project: concrete, wood, glass and sun cutters. In the end, the architectural complex maintains the three main pillars of Architecture: form, function and technology. Resulting in an Architecture for the spirit.Item Anteproyecto de un equipamiento funerario (sala de velaciones), para la Parroquia Ricaurte del Cantón Cuenca(2020-02-28) Heras Bermeo, Juan Carlos; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThe present work of degree consists of designing, a level that the draft of a funeral room, at the Parroquia Ricaurte. The primordial basis for the creation of this design, was the search of the criteria and architectural strategy, studies in the theoretical framework, studies of cases, and urban analysis for the proposal. For them, it was important to know the principles on death, and how to treat it in a social environment, understanding that the spirit is moved to another dimension, while what, to the body of the dead, yields worship before burial; these aspects come accompanied by the grief felt by the relatives, for this reason the spaces created should express a sensation of peace, tranquility, love, hope; in this sense, what the incorporation of nature, expressed in vegetation, sky, light, rock, Earth, wind; their key elements in order to get this environment. Further, it was important to know the funeral rite procedure, which generally, the inhabitants of the Ricaurte Parish perform, understanding that housing is the home of the funeral and worship, so then later it will be transferred to the church and finally to the cemetery. From all these principles, we utilize a principle criteria called life - transition - death; in which, in the accomplished draft, they indicated the spaces for life, where they are accomplished the different activities; spaces of transition, and finally spaces for death, where they will accomplish the funeral. In this way, the room of the funeral, has spaces that receive and serve to the living, just as they serve as spaces to give worship to the dead.Item De la mente al papel... gráficos iniciales en la obra de Souto de Moura(2013-11-11) Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge Agustín; Ramos Monori, Jeimis LeonardoThisresearchpaperaddressestheissue of therepresentation in theinitialstage of architecturalprojectconstruction. In this sense, this study aims to corroborate the importan- ce of the architectural sketch for the development of architectural projects for public space. To this end, the drawings of this type of ur- ban architectural equipment by the architect Fausto Cardoso from Cuenca are analyzed. Specifically, the sketches that led to the exe- cution of three works are used as a sample: the Plaza del Herrero, the Parque del Dragón, located in Cuenca, and the Plaza Cañari, located in Azogues. Methodologically, graphoanalysis is used throu- gh which an architectural ideation scheme is determined and then goes towards the analysis of the sketch and towards the contrast of the drawing with the concrete work. It is concluded that the gra- phic work of Fausto Cardoso does not correspond to any ism due to its mode of representation since the author uses the fast sketch as a means of rapid communication, and the polished sketch when it comes to revealing a meticulous and thoughtful work. When the sketches are compared with the executed projects, it can be ob- served that they vary in very few aspects with the project approa- ches, which reiterates the importance of architectural drawing as a fundamental tool for the development of urban architectural pro- jects for public spaces, while allowing visualize and communicate the design idea accurately, as well as solve problems raised during the ideation and construction process.Item El dibujo que habla: presentación gráfica de la obra de Honorato Carvallo 3 casos de estudio(2017) Salinas Salinas, Nube Janeth; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThe freehand drawing is revalued through the interpretation and analysis of the same in three projects of the architectural work of Honorato Carvallo Cordero, who personalized his work and contributed to the character of Cuenca architecture. Through a critical look, the drawings of the collected information are confronted with the final proposal of the project: original drawings of “squiggles”, sketches and photographs of the time, in order to clarify the non-visual process of the built work. Finally, the unique processes of germination and concretion of the ideas in each case are identified and described. The graphic expression implicit in the drawings reveals the intrinsic qualities of the project phases. In addition, this study of the sketches of Carvallo allows the recognition of fundamental decisions, approaches and reveals his graphic thinking to project, his architectural solutions mainly with the intervention of three elements: hand, mind and paper.Item Diseño a nivel de anteproyecto de un equipamiento turístico comunitario para las Dunas de Palmira, en el cantón Guamote, Chimborazo(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-10-16) Morocho Malla, Marco Antonio; Pauker Jaramillo, Ingrid Estefania; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThe main economic activities of the Palmira parish are livestock and agriculture, activities that in recent years have seen a decline due to the devaluation of agriculture, leading to the mobilization of the population towards larger population centers in search of economic opportunities (generating ghost communities) and in many cases, giving up their traditions to adapt to so-called "modernity". In this parish are located the Dunes of Palmira, a place that has great landscape richness due to the presence of large expanses of sand enclosed by pine forests, which have become an important attraction of visitors, however, this space does not have a correct management and the existing infrastructure does not present the adequate conditions to provide services to the growing demand of tourists. At present, these characteristics are considered weaknesses for the parish, when they can be seen as a strength that promotes the economic development of the study area through the implementation of responsible tourism projects. In this context, it is essential to see tourism as an integral issue, that is, that issues related to the natural landscape, the traditional practices of the community, its basic needs and that of tourists are complemented, understanding tourism as an economic activity that promotes the culture of the population, its traditions, socioeconomic activities, its architecture, its landscapes, among others, thus enhancing the real way of life of the host community. In this sense, the present work consists of the proposal at the preliminary project level of a tourist complex of community administration for the Dunes of Palmira, which is based on theoretical reflection, the analysis of case studies currently implemented and the analysis of the study area that goes from the macro level (parish) to the micro level (Palmira dunes). In order to generate a project that includes the conventional activities of tourism today (lodging, food preparation and sale area, etc.), the activities of the daily reality of the population (agriculture, weaving, dances, ceremonies, among others) and that their formal characteristics do not alter the natural and built environment of the intervention area (ancestral construction techniques and sustainable strategies). The project itself seeks to enhance the landscape characteristics of the place without losing the essence of the locals in such a way that the cultural and traditional activities of the hosts are shown through exhibition spaces, galleries and open kitchens, promoting the pride of the local culture and an economic benefit for the community, in addition to becoming a space for cultural exchange. where tourists learn about the culture while enjoying the scenery.Item Diseño arquitectónico a nivel de anteproyecto para la Unidad Educativa Pucará, Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-08-28) Jadán Campoverde, Nadya Alexandra; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThe study proposes the design of a preliminary architectural project for an educational unit in the community of Pucará, in response to the growth of the school-age population. This phenomenon, together with the considerable distances that exist between the current institutions (school - college), evidenced the need for a new infrastructure. The objective was to design a new establishment that would unify the educational levels in a single facility, optimizing access and improving study conditions. From this perspective, the analysis of population growth and educational demand were identified as the main factors for proposing an architectural solution to improve functionality and access for users of the institutions, such as students and teachers. For this purpose, a qualitative approach methodology was used, supported by some quantitative elements, structured in four main stages. First, population growth was analyzed, focusing on the population between 5 and 17 years of age, as this is the age group that constitutes most users of the educational system. Subsequently, case studies in similar contexts were selected and analyzed. In a third stage, a site analysis was carried out, considering different aspects. Finally, all this information made it possible to establish guidelines for the development of the pre-project. The proposal seeks to improve the functionality and accessibility of the school equipment, consolidating an inclusive space adapted to the rural context.Item Diseño de un espacio público para el adulto mayor en el Centro Histórico de Cuenca(2017) Guamán Pachar, Jorge Marcelo; Pesántez Méndez, Wilson Daniel; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínPublic space is the nucleus of cities, it is the space that corresponds to that city territory where anyone has the right to be and move freely, however the privatization of public space, the inadequate accessibility and lack of Open urban spaces have been the reason of analysis and studies around the world in order to demonstrate the importance and viability that the public space gives to generate sustainable cities. That is why this thesis aims to contribute to the study of the public space importance, beginning with a theoretical analysis of its evolution, by analyzing the different types of public space, revising patterns for designing a quality urban spaces, until Focus on the old people in public space and their different types of problems: physical and psychological problems that limit the access to these equipment’s and make an analysis 3 cases of public space with the objective of extracting supplies to design a quality public space, in this way may arrive to an analysis for obtaining of the site in which is located the preliminary project, based on spatial syntax analysis that show us the road and pedestrian connectivity in the different axes of our city, therefore zones with greater character of stay, Both areas with greater character of stay, this added to the census of the INEC 2010 that ranks the zones with higher incidence of the older people in Cuenca allows us to obtain the appropriate site to perform the preliminary project focusing on the Cuenca historical center , between the axes of Gran Colombia, Coronel Talbot, Estévez De Toral and Mariscal Lamar streets, With the objective of generating a quality public space that could be inclusive in the older people, without architectural barriers with emphasis on the accessibility of people, promoting the cuencanos interrelation and promoting the appropriation and sustainability of citizenship with the historic center.Item Diseño de un espacio público para las márgenes de protección del río Burgay, comprendido entre el Mercado Sucre hasta el puente Chacapamba(2019-06-12) Crespo Ortiz, Diana Beatriz; González Pacheco, Jenny Alba; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínSan Francisco de Peleusí de Azogues, capital of the province of Cañar, presents an important natural value in its areas in process of consolidation that deserve to be contemplated in its planning. Some of these spaces to consider are the margins of the Burgay River, a natural stream of water that crosses this city, and constitutes a great relevance aspect for its identity. This project proposes the design of a public space for the margins of the Burgay River in the section comprised from the Sucre Bridge to the Chacapamba´s interchange. It contains three chapters: The first chapter is a literary compilation of public green spaces, linear parks and the regulatory documents for the management of these spaces. It also includes the analysis of international and local case studies that expose important strategies in their intervention and manifest similar characteristics to the study area of this work. The second chapter shows a diagnosis of the study area to determine its specific characteristics that will allow an adequate intervention according to its environment. The third chapter includes the proposal of the preliminary project for the study area, as result of analyzes made in the previous chapters.Item Diseño del anteproyecto arquitectónico de la Unidad Educativa “Santa Isabel” en el cantón de Santa Isabel, Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-09-03) Jimenez Asencio, Jorge Mateo; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThis research presents the design of an architectural preliminary project for a new campus of the “Santa Isabel” Educational Unit, located in the canton of Santa Isabel, Azuay province, Ecuador. The project responds to the urgent need to replace a deteriorated educational infrastructure, aligning with contemporary criteria of sustainability, energy efficiency, and biophilic design. The proposal is based on passive architectural strategies, taking advantage of the climatic, topographic, and environmental conditions of the designated site. Through a multiscalar analysis—national, provincial, cantonal, parish, and plot—the project configures a design sensitive to its context, integrating thermal comfort, universal accessibility, and a harmonious relationship with the natural environment. The methodological approach incorporates current regulations, the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, and architectural design criteria, resulting in a functional, sustainable, and context-aware solution.Item El dibujo de viaje de Leonardo Ramos Monori como herramienta en los procesos de diseño arquitectónico(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-07-29) Méndez Lozano, Paulina Anabella; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínFreehand drawing is revalued through the interpretation and analysis of the relevance that travel drawing entails to enrich the student's knowledge of architectural projects. The objectives emphasized in this document include the documentation of the projection process of Leonardo Ramos's travel drawing, the demonstration of the usefulness of this technique in the rapid communication of ideas, visual collaboration, and the discovery of criteria that help understand space. through this method in three of his architectural works. The process is divided into three phases, which include the collection of information, analysis and organization of results. The expected result is to demonstrate whether this tool generates a significant impact on the students of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and can help them obtain a deeper and more symbolic understanding of space in the architectural field.Item El espacio público como paisaje urbano: percepción del usuario y la valoración de los espacios públicos existentes en la ciudad de Riobamba(2018-07-19) Baldeón Roblino, Javier Enrique; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThis investigation seeks to define public space as an element of urban landscape in Riobamba, Chimborazo in Ecuador. Through the methods employed in this work, the situations in which users experience and use the city parks will be established. There is a lack of existing research that addresses the issue from the critical point of view of the current situation of the parks of Riobamba. In addition, the tendency towards m2/hab of public space within cities of developing countries is below the World Health Organization’s recommendation. Public space implies distinct dimensions, in addition, the perception and appreciation of the user define a degree of satisfaction, safety, and comfort that corresponds with the time of day they use the site. The municipality administers the appropriate uses of Riobamba’s city parks, and those who execute projects are professionals in the branches of Architecture, Urbanism, and Landscape (although barely the latter), and a technical assessment is essential to determine the appropriate approach to the city's parks. Three groups were established that categorize the parks in Riobamba. In the first group, are the emblematic and heritage parks, the major and representative parks, for their area and demand, make up the second group, and, finally, the third group is formed of minor parks located in the surrounding areas of the city. After the analysis and interpretation of the results, it is established that the current situation requires a city project that integrates pubic space as an indispensable part of urban space. Strategies are determined that address the parameters which user surveys and interviews with experts have shown as priorities. The desired benefits assume that city parks are spaces for social, cultural, artistic, and athletic exchange for inclusion and identity. Families and people of varying age, gender, social status, religion, and political ideology return to these spaces to enjoy a visual landscape at harmony with nature and current technological advances. Therefore, the community, the administrative municipality, public institutions, and private owners of these sites should be the main actors to come together with a common goal, which is joint and responsible work that allows the creation of public spaces that are worthy of all citizens of Riobamba, regardless of the sector where they live.Item Estrategias de diseño para espacios comunes externos en la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la Universidad de Cuenca. La fotografía como herramienta de documentación(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-08-29) Largo Maldonado, Victor Hugo; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThe Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Cuenca, like other academic environments, has teaching and learning as its main objective, traditionally prioritizing spaces for formal academic use. However, social activities that require adequate spaces for coexistence are also developed there. This work focuses on the analysis of the external common spaces where student interaction takes place. Through perception surveys applied to students, these spaces and their main characteristics are identified. A physical-spatial analysis is also carried out to understand how these factors influence their use and appropriation. As part of the methodology, documentary photography is used to generate a photographic catalog to understand the spatial and social relationships in these places. Finally, improvement strategies are proposed, using digital illustration on some images of the photographic catalog.Item Expresión Gráfica Manual Digital como herramienta de análisis de los espacios públicos Patrimoniales de la Ciudad de Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-08-25) Pintado Cárdenas, Luis Andres; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThis research analyzes Digital Manual Graphic Expression as a tool to study social and cultural dynamics in heritage spaces in Cuenca's Historic Center, focusing on the Central Sector of El Vado. In contrast to technical digital representations that prioritize the quantifiable, the aim is to rescue the symbolic dimension through sensitive graphic representations. Through a qualitative methodology, combining documentary review, interviews with residents, merchants, and tourists, and participant observation, cultural practices, uses of space, and collective meanings were identified. These were translated into freehand digital drawings, reflecting physical and symbolic elements of the urban environment. Digital Manual Graphic Expression is consolidated as an effective tool to revalue heritage from a human, artistic, and technical perspective. The results show that it enriches the understanding of the urban fabric, makes visible social dynamics ignored by conventional methods, and promotes collective memory and a sense of belonging in historical contexts such as Cuenca.Item Glosario gráfico: detalles constructivos y toponimias de viviendas vernáculas patrimoniales y sus variantes dentro del manzano de la iglesia de San Francisco y sus inmediatas(2019-05-02) Merchán Galán, Ana María; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThe present research pretends to build a graphic glossary of vernacular architecture in order to reverse the situation of devaluation or undervaluation of the built heritage, through a proper and innovative catalogue to promote the value and conservation of vernacular architecture. The lack of dialogue between architects or professionals, as well as the improper interpretation of the history of the monuments, has led to inadequate analysis and errors in the implementation of the value of this monuments. Therefore, the aim of this glossary constitutes a contribution to the appreciation and value of vernacular architecture and contributes to the management of the built heritage of Cuenca. The importance of this type of glossary or catalog is to identify in each region the own terminology, the inherited vocabulary (toponymy) used by the common people, and specific nomenclatures used by specialists, to later standardize and unify these terms with an explanatory hand made drawing. The glossary will serve as a didactic catalogue to instruct students, architects and professionals of the sector. The information was compiled within three selected study cases and through interviews with architects, public servers, restaurateurs, and people who have been working and have experience in the area of vernacular architecture; the information was collected by factsheets elaborated by the author. The fundamental contribution of this research are the construction details, complemented by a brief description of the construction process, as well as the elements composing every detail. It is not just a terminological glossary, but a graphical detailed catalogue.Item Intervención urbano-arquitectónica en las márgenes del Río Yanuncay: Una alternativa turística para Cuenca:(2000) Hermida Palacios, Carla Marcela; Montesinos González, Dániaba; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge Agustín; Piedra Landívar, CésarItem Lienzos permutables: Recopilatorio análogo y reconstrucción digital como recurso de preservación, caso de estudio: César Piedra(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-07-31) Añazco Salazar, Carolina Isabel; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínTechnological advances since the turn of the century have transformed the way we live. The graphic representation of architecture has not been exempted from this. Graphics, derived from the global concept of art, needs a support to materialize: the canvas. Even in this digital era, the canvas cannot be dispensed with. That is why the title emphasizes the canvas; canvases do not cease to be the material support; they only change from the tangible to the intangible. In this way, the manual graphic expression is invariable of its support and remains as a means of communication. This degree work compiles the graphic information of three of César Piedra’s projects: the Central Bank complex, the Banco del Austro building and César Piedra’s personal residence, the Piedra house. It aims to collect the archive of these works up to the pre-project stage, in order to take one of them to generate a digital reconstruction using digital illustration software that mimics traditional drawing media. The methodological process is divided into large sections: bibliographic review and establishment of concepts, collection and registration of the graphic archive, analysis and reconstruction of one of the projects. All this exploration hopes to conclude that the manual graphic expression is an effective communication tool, which mutates with technological advances. Finally, the freehand digital drawing as an alternative for the conservation of real estate information.Item Lineamientos de diseño de residencias estudiantiles desde el concepto de habitabilidad. Caso: Universidad de Cuenca(2019-09-20) Aucapiña Maldonado, Daniel Agustin; Sisalema Yanzapanta, Vanessa Liliana; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThe purpose of this degree work is to determine habitability conditions that student residences must have, expressed in design guidelines defined from the concept of habitability, from which, current Architecture has lost its essence. In this investigation, the case of the University of Cuenca is studied, which had an influx of 4256 foreign students in February 2018; that is, around 27% of the total undergraduate students enrolled. This flow of internal migration generates a demand for accommodation that is mostly satisfied in the surroundings of its university campuses. The arrival of these residents, on the one hand, boosts the economy of these areas of preference, but on the other it generates a number of particularities, including the deterioration of the dwelling stock that also affects important heritage areas of the city. This research has been carried out from the Pragmatism paradigm, from a qualitative approach, using a mixed methodological design: phenomenological and case studies. 305 surveys and 15 individual interviews were carried out, which allowed knowing the way in which the studied subjects inhabit. On the other hand, when analyzing the case studies, architectural solutions were identified for the mitigation of conflicts identified in the characterization of these residences and finally the design guidelines were established in order to provide alternatives to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of this population. The formal values of the traditional architecture of the Saraguro people, pertinent to the Modern Movement. Typological study of traditional architecture in the Lagunas community, Saraguro parish, its purpose is to identify the principles of the Modern Movement in the traditional architecture of the Saraguro people, through the study of architectural typologies in the Lagunas community of the Saraguro parish. This is achieved by identifying typologies of vernacular architecture in the Lagunas community that help determine its relationship with the principles of modernity. In addition, it seeks to promote the preservation, dissemination and enhancement of architecture built without architects, to generate guidelines that allow the construction of public policies in community terms to safeguard the traditional architecture of the community. Through observation and direct participation in the place, and with the consent of the community and its actors, the information is collected. A review of historical documentation of the community is made. Then the traditional dwellings are identified, a typological classification is made. The research work will serve the Lagunas community to know and value its architecture, which allows to highlight its cultural identity. In addition, it becomes a consultation and guide document for students, teachers and public and / or private institutions interested in topics that run through tradition and modernity in architectural terms.Item Radio. Planificación y diseño arquitectónico de una estación de radiodifusión: caso Radio Familia en la ciudad de Cuenca(2016) Torres Leiva, Andrés Andrés; Tenesaca Chimbo, Jorge AgustínThe studio is a media constructed from a few variables where technology, acoustics, the nature of the environment and everyone involved in the process of making this space a place known but underserved. It is for this reason that the present work shows in the first instance the basic knowledge about the history, basic acoustic concepts and special needs primarily evaluates the Communication Laws of Ecuador subtly demand in some of its articles. Moreover, this project appreciates the needs of the radio station of local media in the city of Cuenca and is similar with the average European communications and is just as longstanding as it is NRK. In this process some constructive and formal aspects that respond to the environment and its location, exposing strengths and weaknesses of Familia FM, 88 FM and radio Ingapirca sometimes the radios crumble. From the guidelines given, a radio station arises, so this guides the architect to respond effectively in remodeling or constructing of radio stations considering the three points initially stated.
