    Forma oclusal del segundo molar superior, en pacientes privados de la ciudad de Cuenca, y en pacientes y estudiantes de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2013-2014

    The objective of the research is to determine the occlusal form of the second upper molar, the same as was done in private patients of the City of Cuenca, and patients and students of the Dentistry Faculty at Cuenca University, in 30 women and 30 men. Impressions with alginate where taken of the upper arch, obtaining study models in extra hard plaster in order to analyze the morphological characteristics: number of cuspids, pits, groves and their dimensions. The results obtained revealed that the rhomboidal shape (48.3 %) is the most prevalence out of the 60 dental pieces analyzed, followed by the triangular shape (26.7 %), the trapezoidal shape (20 %) and the last one is the compression shape (5 %). This study allow us to determine that the rhomboidal shape is the most predominance and gives us a clear idea: for the restauration of a dental piece; within the field of dental operatory clinic; for the description of the dental piece in the educational subject of dental morphology, and for dental laboratory with regards to the elaboration of dental crowns.
