The President of the Republic in the Ecuadorian State is the highest hierarchical authority, he is elected by popular vote for a period of four years. However, this period may be interrupted as a result of the activation of democratic mechanisms such as the revocation of the mandate or impeachment. In Ecuador, the 2008 Constitution empowers citizens with the possibility of dismissing the holder of the executive function, either by direct intervention through the revocation of the mandate, or through their representatives with impeachment. In order for this effect to be carried out, the established procedure must be followed and provided that the authority has incurred in the causes. The decision to remove the President of the Republic from office is of great importance, so these mechanisms can become instruments of revenge for the electoral contest, generating obstacles to the management of the president or, in turn, it can become complicated to try to promote them. In Ecuador, there are few recall processes or political prosecution of the President of the Republic and are a consequence of the strictness of the requirements and established procedures, as well as the ignorance of the existence of these democratic mechanisms, for which the present research work It will focus on analyzing and comparing two of the mechanisms through which the early separation from the position of the President of the Republic is possible.
