Motor skills are fundamental in the physical and cognitive development of schoolchildren, as they influence their ability to perform coordinated movements. Their stimulation at early ages favors integral wellbeing. This research analyzed the effects of Judo on the development of motor skills in children from 9 to 11 years of age from the “San Joaquín” Educational Unit. Their skills were evaluated before and after a Judo program using the Psychomotor Battery. The sample included 12 children, 7 boys (58.3%) and 5 girls (41.7%). Before the program, most of them presented a dyspraxic profile, with difficulties in tonicity, balance, laterality and body notion. After the application of the program, based on Judo techniques such as falls, grips and throws, a considerable improvement was evidenced. In the post- test, the participants reached a hyperpraxic profile, with significant improvements in all the variables evaluated. The comparative analysis between pre- and post- intervention results showed significant statistical differences (p < 0.05), evidencing the effectiveness of Judo in psychomotor development. The practice of Judo strengthened motor skills, improving coordination, balance and body awareness. In addition, participants experienced a positive impact on their physical and emotional performance. In conclusion, Judo represents an effective tool to enhance psychomotor development in schoolchildren, favoring their physical and emotional performance.
