    Prevalencia de los trastornos de ansiedad y depresión en pacientes con diabetes meliitus tipo 2 y su asociación con el control glucémico, en la consulta externa del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca, en el periodo marzo - agosto 2016

    Background: Diabetes has a big relevance at worldwide due to its morbidity and metabolic alterations, these added with another factors may predispose to develop psychiatric disorders, such as anxiety and depression. Objective: To determine the prevalence of anxiety and depression disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes; and its association with glycemic control in outpatient Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, Cuenca on March -August 2016 period. Methods: A quantitative, analytical, cross section study of prevalence was conducted on a sample of 230 participants, prior informed consent, Beck inventories of anxiety and depression was applied. Glycemic control was determined by the assessment of glycated hemoglobin reported in the medical records. Results: The most important characteristics of the sample (230) were: 60,9% with a range 40 – 64 years, 64,3% were woman, 38,7% were married and 55,2% with middle school. The prevalence of anxiety was 88,7% with a positive association with glycemic control (p=0,003) and nutritional status (p=0,004), meanwhile the prevalence of depression was 76,5%, whit a positive association con glycemic control (p=0,001), nutritional status and type of treatment (p=0,020). Conclusions: A Diabetic person with poor glycemic control, has largest possibilities to develop anxiety and depression, this chance raised with another factors like BMI >24,9 and treatment with insulin
