The present investigation is framed in the descriptive modality with a quantitative approach and is located in the field of Basic Education, specifically related to the teaching of the use of ICT within teacher training. The study aims to know the level of digital skills of students of the Basic Education career of the University of Cuenca to identify those in which there is a greater and lesser dominance. The main categories of the study are, on the one hand, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and on the other digital competences. The data was collected through an online survey of students in the seventh cycle of the Basic Education career, subsequently, the results obtained were analyzed and processed. Finally, the conclusions indicate that the level of digital competences of students can be located at an intermediate level, since there is no significant prevalence with respect to the domain of ICT, because there is a great domain in skills such as the use of instant messaging applications, use of email or applications for telereunions, use of specialized search engines, information verification, security and troubleshooting of devices. However, there is little mastery in competencies related to the use of office tools and gamification resources, knowledge of ethics about the use of the internet and solving connectivity problems, among others.

(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-09-23) Vargas Castillo, Milton Ramiro; Suquilanda Villa, Doris Yolanda
The present research had the purpose to promote the understanding of concepts and the solution of exercises on quadratic functions through the use of GeoGebra software. For this research, a quasi-experimental methodological design was chosen with only post-test and control group. The study was carried out in a public establishment in the city of Azogues, Ecuador, with 30 students who belong to the intervention group and another group of 30 who belong to the control group. A diagnostic evaluation was carried out which allowed to know that the two groups were in equal conditions. The intervention, in group one, consisted of the implementation of 15 hours class of BGU with GeoGebra software in the establishment's computer lab, while in the other group the 15 hours of classes were held in the regular classroom without using GeoGebra. The results allowed us to establish that working with software has a positive influence about the understanding of concepts and the problem solving related to quadratic functions exercises. The results on 12 points showed that the students of the control group reached an average of 10.20 points (SD 2.02) and those of the control group 6.57 points (SD 2.47), which is considered a significant difference when making a comparison with the non-parametric test statistic U of Mann Whitney (z = -4.812, p = 0.000, unilateral, Cohen's d 1.61).I The importance of GeoGebra software to facilitate the teaching of the subject of mathematics for the students of the first year of BGU is discussed

The present research work is situated in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), with emphasis on knowing the teaching experiences regarding the use of these tools in Middle Education. This particular problem has been the object of much research due to its implications in the school and professional practice of teachers. The methodology is based on a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, with the participation of nine teachers belonging to three schools (public, fiscal and fiscal) of Cuenca and Cañar selected through a non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Semi-structured interview were conducted and thematic analysis was used to analyze the information collected. Among the experiences found, there is evidence of an exposed, sensitive, vulnerable and confused teaching staff, facing feelings of anguish, stress, embarrassment, fear and uncertainty in the face of the unknown. However, for all teachers, ICT proved to be a positive experience once they were able to define their teaching objectives. The importance of training, research, willingness to explore and risk this new range of possibilities allowed the transition from ICT to LKT (Learning and Knowledge Technologies) and finally, to PET (Empowerment and Participation Technologies).

El facebook como herramienta evidenciadora del trabajo grupal con estudiantes de EGB superior
(2016) Cáceres Lazo, Gabriela Beatriz; Suquilanda Villa, Doris Yolanda
This paper aims to conduct a study of the social network Facebook as an evidencing tool of group work with middle school students. For this, it has been taken as a reference, some research made in other countries where Facebook has been used as a tool to develop the group work within the schools. As in the case of Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Spain and Ecuador, where they mention the importance of implementing ICT in education as an instrument to demonstrate the activity of the working group. Group work is presented as a cultural exchange activity, which from the interaction, involvement learning is achieved. In this sense, virtual meetings are promoted through the social network Facebook, to encourage participatory action in working groups. Facebook represents a center of interest for people and an easy access to enable connections between individuals who are distant in real time. This is a benefit for education but it requires some of the advantages and disadvantages this communicational tool possesses, to be considered, so its use can be effective. The social network towards the group work represents an innovation strategy but considers many requirements for its use, that is why the teacher in his role of mediator, must plan every action to be taken, which will allow to make use of the different potential his/her class possesses.
