    Inducción de brotación en el cultivo de Selenicereus sp (pitahaya) mediante la aplicación de ácido giberélico en la granja El Romeral de la Universidad de Cuenca en Guachapala-Azuay

    Selenicereus sp. is an important crop in the international context, which is why its export potential is increasing; however, irregular sprouting is an important problem in commercial production. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the application of gibberellic acid for the induction of sprouting in Selenicereus sp. at the El Romeral farm. For this purpose, 18 vigorous plants were selected and 6 treatments of GA3 (0, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140 ppm) were applied with three replicates in a completely randomised block design, the application being carried out on the whole plant until dripping was observed. The variable to be evaluated was the number of shoots produced by each treatment. It was found that there were no representative differences between the GA3 treatments (p=0.7587), but a certain tendency towards sprouting was observed. In conclusion, the application of GA3 had a tendency towards greater sprouting, which suggests that, although it does not present a definitive effect, the treatment could have a positive impact on the induction of sprouting of Selenicereus sp. at the El Romeral Experimental Farm of the University of Cuenca.
