Construcción de priostazgo: resignificaciones en la fiesta de los toros en honor al Señor de Girón en el contexto de alta migración

Girón is an agro-livestock society located in the southern area in Ecuador. Just like the entire austral region, this town has also severely faced the migratory phenomenon. This has disrupted the township economically, socially and culturally. Construcción de priostazgo: resignificaciones en la Fiesta de los Toros en honor al Señor de Girón en el contexto de alta migración, it is an ethnography that analyzes; firstly, the historical and geographical structure in the town of Girón. The survival pan-Andean camelids sacrifice, now it synchronized in the ritual sacrifice of the bull and the form how it was traditionally structured. Next, it tries to describe the bulls’ celebration in the actuality, offering an anthropological theorization of that to identify what has been the influence of high migration on it. Finally, this investigation focuses on the changes and continuities that the celebration has suffered and how the prioste’s figure is built within the framework of the resignifications produced by migration. This work, being an ethnography, has made it possible to work with participant observation in the celebration and make interviews to the people who were part of it, mainly to the priotes. With these techniques of investigation, it was possible to observe and interpret the relationship present between the priostazgo and migration in relation to the investigation question. This work concluded with the category of prioste–migrante, as a subject product of the high income from migration that breaks with whom “traditionally” held this position of power
Georeferenciación, análisis y función del patrimonio toponímico del cantón Cuenca: parroquia rurales de Cumbe y Victoria del Portete

This work that has the title: “Georeferenciación, Análisis y Función del Patrimonio Toponímico del Cantón Cuenca: Parroquias Rurales de Cumbe y Victoria del Portete” is a research contribution that aims to acknowledge the variety of toponyms or place names of existing areas as well as the cultural richness toponyms involve for each place. Toponyms are linked to areas of interest such as geography, history, anthropology, botany, linguistics among others, areas that are associated as a testimony of the relationship that has existed and still exists between man and environment as well as time and nature. This has been considered as part of the inhabitant’s life philosophy. The study of toponyms has been achieved based on the written historical files, dictionaries and bibliographical sources. Furthermore on-site work has been based on information gathered through interviews and surveys which were applied to the population belonging to the places concerned. Moreover, Georeferencing and the technical process will be completed through Arcgis 10.1. This software allows to develop a Geographic Information System (GIS), therefore geographical information like location, literal meaning, etymological meaning, origin of the place name can be linked to the toponym. Map production is also part of the analysis of the toponymic information. The study will aim to establish a logical relationship between the toponym and the geographical space. These are part of the cultural heritage present until today, therefore its conservation and preservation through different mechanisms is necessary.
