    Prevalencia de inicio de la vida sexual activa y factores asociados en estudiantes escolarizados/as de los colegios de Cuenca, 2009

    Background: It is a cross-sectional quantitative study of prevalence. Objective: To determine the prevalence of initiation of sexual activity and risk factors in school students of Cuenca city. Materials and Methods: The universe was 42 067 students from 71 high schools in the city of Cuenca, a sample of 713 students from 10 high schools, obtained by applying the EPIDAT version 6 as simple randomization. The instrument used was a previously validated questionnaire. The results were analyzed using the SPSS system version 15.0 Evaluation. Results: The age of onset of sexual life among students in the high schools of Cuenca is most often at age 15 for men and women with a 27.5%. Conclusions: Of all students surveyed, 32.3% (213) has already initiated their sexual life. Keywords: adolescence, sexual activity, associated factors.
