    Prevalencia del síndrome de distrés respiratorio y factores asociados en los recién nacidos, ingresados al servicio de Neonatología del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, durante el año 2015

    Respiratory Distress Syndrome, is one of the most common disorders in the newborn and constitutes one of the main indicators of infant morbidity and mortality. Currently this pathology continues to lead the neonatal morbidity, as it depends largely lung maturity of the newborn. Objective: To establish the prevalence of respiratory distress syndrome and associated factors in newborns during the period 2015 to making future decisions, according to the data. Methods and materials: an analytical, retrospective and cross-sectional study, by processing digital records of patients admitted to the department of neonatology Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during 2015. The universe included all newborns admitted to service neonatology and the sample took into account newborns diagnosed with respiratory distress. Data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2015 and SPSS version 22, presenting them through graphs and tables; Chi square for analysis, percentages, 95% confidence interval, prevalence ratio and p value were used. Results: preterm birth less than 37 weeks’ gestation (p 0.000), less than 2500 grams (p 0.001), cesarean (p 0.000) weight, APGAR: a statistically significant association between respiratory distress syndrome and variables found to less than 7 minutes (p 0.000) and the lower APGAR minute to 5 (p 0.000). Conclusions: There is a higher prevalence of respiratory distress with the following factors: premature birth less than 37 weeks’ gestation, less than 2500 grams, cesarean delivery, Apgar at minute 7 and lower Apgar less than five minutes
