Over time, there has been a constant transition in the implementation of materials and construction systems in the buildings of the historical center of Cuenca. Changes that responded at the time, to the different social, political and economic situations that somehow altered the constructive customs in the city, and parts of the buildings. However, changes in the application of materials are kept in the memory of people, but despite this, it is difficult to know the history that these, in the heritage buildings. Considering this antecedent, the present research topic proposes to make an approximation of the introduction of the materials in the real estate of the historic center. The period selected for this study is between 1880 and 1980, when a considerable amount of materials were incorporated in the buildings of the city center and brought with it several changes in the local architecture.
