    Motivación y su relación con la actividad sexual en la mujer

    Background: the motivational system constitutes the basic level of sexual desire which is experienced as a specific sensation that moves women to seek sexual experiences or to be receptive to them. Objective: to know the relationship between sexual motivation and sexual activity in women who come to the GADPEO Medical Center for consultation. Methodology: the research has a cross-sectional quantitative approach with a scale-type design that has a correlational scope. The sample consisted of 339 women. A form was elaborated with social, demographic and clinical data, questions on couple relationship, motivation and the EVAS M scale. The statistical analysis was carried out using the SPSS program; the presentation of the results with frequencies, percentages, arithmetic mean and standard deviation; to contrast the hypothesis the chi square (p<0,005); to measure association the prevalence ratio and its 95% confidence interval. Results: data were obtained from 339 women with a mean age of 39.4 years and standard deviation of 13.3. The most frequent motivations were: for intimacy (24.8%), responsive desire (22.7%), and sexual desire (21.5%) and to please (18.3%). The 31.9% presented an EVAS score below 38 with a high probability of sexual dysfunction. Motivation is significantly associated with dysfunction in all dimensions (p<0.001). Conclusions: sexual motivation functions as a protective factor of having dysfunction in the different dimensions of sexual activity.
