Item Factores de riesgo y prevalencia de fibromialgia en personas mayores de 18 años mediante la aplicación del cuestionario copcord en la Ciudad de Cuenca 2014(2015) Maldonado Cantos, María Eugenia; Shy, Yeou Lin; Nieto Correa, Xavier Andrés; Guevara Pacheco, Sergio VicenteOBJECTIVE: To determine the risk factors and prevalence of fibromyalgia (FM), by applying the questionnaire COPCORD in the population over 18 years of Cuenca. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted with the questionnaire COPCORD (Community Oriented Program for the Control of Rheumatic Diseases), previously randomized population consisting of 2500 people over 18 years of Cuenca city. This questionnaire is validated to apply to Spanish-speaking countries and adapted to our environment. We worked with a confidence interval of 95%, to compare groups we used the Odds Ratio and for data analysis were used programs like Microsoft Excel, EpiDat, EpiInfo, SPSS. RESULTS: 2500 habitants of Cuenca were studied, with an average age of 42 to 91 years old(SD = 17.68 years) and in most cases 59.6% were female; the prevalence of fibromyalgia was 2.1% and more frequent in females, age 40-49 years, divorced and currently working. Statistically significant risk factors (p <0.05) were: female, aged 40-49 years, chronic diseases other than heart diseases, gastritis, alcoholism and respiratory failure. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of fibromyalgia is high and the age and sex are the most important factors involved.
