Item Niveles de desarrollo de conceptos básicos en niños y niñas de 4 a 5 años de la ciudad de Cuenca. Estudio de caso: escuela de educación básica “Cornelio Crespo Toral"(2017) Serrano Mendoza, Sandra Dolores; Betancourth Ortiz, Mercy Paulina; Sigüenza Campoverde, Wilson GuillermoAt the beginning of formal education, children acquire experience and knowledge which represents a determining factor while they are learning, but it turns out that not all students receive enough stimulation at school, which will interfere in their normal development in the teaching-learning process. Based on this background, a research project has been planned to explain the importance of prior knowledge in children in order to initiate new learning. That is why, we started this analysis entitled Levels of development of basic concepts in male and female children from 4 to 5 years of age in Cuenca city. Case study: Elementary school Cornelio Crespo Toral, whose main objective is to determine the mastery of basic concepts which are necessary for children – learning process at stages of Initial Education. The study, which is quantitative-descriptive, used the “Boehm Test” as an instrument and it was applied to 43 students. Results showed that children present a general average of 37.28 / 50 that corresponds to a total percentage of development of 72.25%, keeping in mind that the low socioeconomic level scale was used.
