(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-20) Maza Valladares, Johanna Paola; Serrano Jaramillo, Luis Esteban; Zeas Puga, Ana Lucía
Background: Older adults experience physiological changes inherent to the aging process, which are closely linked to functional limitations that have an impact on activities of daily living. Therefore, functional physical performance plays an important role in the quality of life of older adults, for this reason it is considered important to evaluate physical capacities in this population group, in order to subsequently develop personalized diagnoses and treatments. Objective: To determine the physical performance of the "Historia Viva San Joaquín" Older Adults Group. Methodology: A descriptive study was carried out with a sample of 50 older adults belonging to the "Historia Viva San Joaquín" Older Adults Group. The evaluation of functional physical performance was carried out through the application of the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB). The data collected were analyzed and presented in the form of frequencies and percentages through Kobotoolbox version 2.023 and Microsoft Excel 2016. Results: It was found that 50.74% of the PAM presented low functional physical performance. This study also showed that the female sex of the "Historia Viva San Joaquín" group had a lower functional physical performance compared to the male sex. With 73.13% and 26.86% respectively.
