    Prevalencia y caracterización de forámenes mentonianos accesorios en imágenes de cbct

    The mental foramen and their variations as accessory mental foramen are im-portant anatomical structures in the dental practice. Meanwhile, no information about the accessory mental foramen in our population was found. Therefore, the aim of this research was determine the prevalence of these structures and their characteristics at private radiological center of Cuenca city. The demographic and radiological data were obtained of the analysis of 146 CBCTs. The prevalence of accessory mental foramen was equivalent to 5.47% (8 individuals - 9 AMF), being that 7 individuals exhibited one unilateral AMF and one patient showed two AMFs on the same side of the mandible, no bilateral cases were detected. The entity was found mainly in CBCTs obtained of female patients. Hence, the present study contribute with information about accessory mental foramen to professionals and students of Dentistry.
