Determinación de directrices para la inserción de arquitectura contemporánea en el Centro Histórico de Cuenca
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-08-07) Segarra Flores, Ariana Patricia; Guerra Galán, Jaime Augusto
This study addresses the evolution of architecture in response to changing social needs, particularly in the context of the historic center of Cuenca. This space has experimented with constant interventions, including inserting contemporary architecture. Managing these changes requires careful management that ensures typological coherence and harmony with the historical context, avoiding invasive impacts. For this study, the Gil Ramírez Dávalos parish was designed because its buildings highlight the different categories of heritage value in force in Cuenca, which were established to manage and conserve Cuenca's built heritage. The streets delimit this parish: Antonio Vega Muñoz to the North, Benigno to the East, Coronel Guillermo Talbot to the West, and by the Tomebamba River to the South. The study also highlights the importance of considering architectural heritage when incorporating new architecture, respecting values such as collective memory, and historical and cultural value. Contemporary architecture must follow certain principles, maintaining a balance and order consistent with modern architecture. The proposed methodology involves the quantification of buildings according to their architectural values. Cases of Homologues will be reviewed to identify applicable principles and solutions will be evaluated for the integration of the new architecture in different value categories, considering the singularities and ways to preserve historical and cultural characteristics.
