Item La influencia educativa de los Salesianos en Cuenca (1893-1938)(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-12) Saquicela Tigre, Nathaly Silvana; Toral Cabrera, Leoncio Eliodoro; Neira Escudero, María GabrielaThe arrival of the Salesian Congregation in Cuenca marked the beginning of a socio- educational work that would take off in the early twentieth century. Although the city constituted a space where technical education was developed, there is no major research support about it since most studies have been aimed at the East. It is important to frame that this research aims to analyze the educational influence of the salesians in Cuenca during 1893 (arrival in the city of Cuenca) and 1938 (operation of the Institute of Arts and Crafts "Cornelio Merchán"). This study adopts a qualitative approach, using the analysis of primary sources from the Archivo Histórico Salesiano-Ecuador (AHS/E) and secondary sources: salesian bulletins, books and articles. In addition, the interview will be incorporated to gather perceptions that will strengthen the analysis of the mentioned sources. It should be clarified that in order to analyze the topic, critical history will be taken into account, which will allow us to have an analytical look at the salesian influence. Through the work it was concluded that the salesian works in Cuenca during the stipulated period were important for the educational development in Cuenca, which despite the political problems managed to consolidate as a congregation that helped to technify education. Finally, it is hoped that this research will contribute to the knowledge of the history of education in Cuenca and reinforce the memory of the salesian presence in the city.
