Item Prevalencia de Candida albicans en prótesis totales en pacientes de la Clínica de la Facultad de Odontología y factores asociados. Cuenca, 2014- 2015(Universidad de Cuenca, 2019-12-03) Sangucho Luje, Gardenia Alexandra; Alvarado Cordero, Jacinto JoséObjective: Determine the presence of Candida albicans in the total prostheses and the association between glucose levels, pH and salivary flow of patients attending the clinics of the University of Cuenca in the year 2014 to 2016. Study Type: The study is descriptive type, with a sample of 290 patients, 239 women, 51 men, divided into three age ranges. Methods and Materials: The presence of Candida was determined by means of a culture in Sabouraud Agar and observation under a microscope with a 40X lens. Blood glucose levels were quantified by means of a fasting laboratory test, while salivary Ph using the test strips immersed in saliva samples and salivary flow by collecting saliva not stimulated for a period of 5 minutes in measuring vessels. Tabulation and data analysis were performed in the SPPS. Version 21 with a 95% confidence interval. Results: In the total sample, a prevalence of 39.7% was obtained in patients with candida albicans in their prostheses, predominantly female. Conclusions: the result was not statistically significant when the glycemia level (p = 0.897) and salivary flow (p = 0.05) were correlated with the presence of candida albicans whereas the salivary pH was significant with a Chi square of (p = 0.001) By relating it to C. albicans
