    Calidad de vida en pacientes con cirugía de adenoides y amígdalas. Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca. Enero 2012 - junio 2016

    Objective: to determine the quality of life (QoL) of patients before and after: adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy and/or adenotonsillectomy; who were operated in the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the “Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso”, from January 2012 to June 2016.Methodology: it is a quantitative, descriptive, observational, retrospective study; 74 patients from 0 to 14 years operated on adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy and/or adenotonsillectomy at the Otorhinolaryngology Service of “Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso” (HVCM). The information was collected from medical records and data collection forms which consists the demographic variables, the OSA-18 Questionnaire and the Graffar Scale modified. Statistical measures, absolute frequency, and percentage were used; the McNemar Test was calculated using the SPSS 15.00 program, version evaluation.Results: in this study, the mean age was 7.01 ± 3.32, the lower middle socioeconomic level prevailed 39.2%, hypertrophy of adenoids and/or palatine tonsils was the most frequent pathology in males 56.8%, adenotonsillectomy was 59.5% The most frequently performed surgery, there are statistically significant differences in QoL before and after surgical treatment, McNemar p = 0.000a.Conclusions: HVCM patients with adenoid hypertrophy and/or palatine tonsils hypertrophy improved their QoL after the surgical treatment
