    Características de la microtia en pacientes de 0 a 20 años de consulta externa de Otorrinolaringología del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso 2010 – 2014

    BACKGROUND: A microtia is a congenital malformation of the external part of the ear that represents a high of prevalence in our country it has affected 10.6 for every 10000 births. It is commonly associated with hearing loss; however its etiology is little known, so it is of great importance in our knowledge of its characteristics. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the characteristics of a Microtia in patients of 0 to 20 years of age for external consult for Otorhinolaryngology at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the period of 2010 – 2014. METHODOLOGY: A study was conducted quantitative descriptive and retrospective in 105 patients that represented Microtia in the external consult of Otorhinolaryngology in the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the years 2010-2014. The information was obtained from medical history and processing was executed in Microsoft Excel and SPSS 15.0 programs. RESULTS: The prevalence of the microtia was from 18.62 out of 1000 patients being the greater unilateral predominance (91.43%), for male patients (59.09%) and in the right ear (60%). In the unilateral microtia grade II was more frequent whit 50% of the cases following by the grade level III 22.92%, grade level I 18.75% and grade IV 8.33%. CONCLUSION: The microtia represents a great frequency external consult associated with total hearing loss. The majority affected by unilateral form are men and the right ear. This disease also it shows isolated cases and in patients with the origin of high altitudes
