Background According to the World Health Organization, more than 50% of the population are workers, most of whom have suffered accidents or occupational diseases. This prompted the establishment of prevention strategies to improve health and work environment. However, during the work activity, depending on the equipment used or work area, musculoskeletal disorders can be generated that trigger occupational diseases, making it essential to evaluate these jobs to determine the level of risk of suffering these disorders in addition to the level of action to avoid them. General Objective To determine the level of ergonomic risk associated with the repetitive work activity of the workers of the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works, department of Cuenca, through the application of the Ocra Check-List method. Methodology A descriptive cross-sectional study of descriptive level was carried out. The entire population (N=59) belonging to the mechanical area of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works participated and the Check List Ocra ergonomic assessment method was applied. Subsequently, the statistical tabulation was carried out with the SPSS version 22 program, presenting the results in tables. Results It was obtained that the right upper limb presents a High Unacceptable risk level with 83.1% and for the left upper limb 79.7% was obtained for the highest category of the Ocra Check List Index. Indicating that they need an improvement of the job, medical supervision and training to reduce the risk of developing a musculoskeletal disorder, which otherwise would lead to illness and absenteeism.
