Item Prevalencia de candidiasis vulvovaginal y factores asociados en pacientes del Centro Ambulatorio Central del Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social, Loja 2014(2015) Sacoto Ullauri, Gustavo Eugenio; Tenezaca Tacuri, Ángel Hipólito; Arévalo Peláez, Carlos EduardoIntroduction: candida infection is the second leading cause of visits the gynecologist after the bacterial vulvovaginitis. The causes are multifactorial. The symptomatology is not always the best evidence for the diagnosis, still need the microscopic examination. Objective: To determine the prevalence of vulvovaginal candidiasis and associated factors in patients in the Ambulatory Care Center Central of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security, Loja 2014. Methodology: an observational, analytical, cross section study was conducted, with 171 patients who came to consultation. It was used for diagnosing the observation in fresh with KOH. Were used in the analysis or with its 95% confidence interval, was considered to be statistically significant p-values < 0.05 Results: The majority of the population has aged between 25 and 39 years, are of the urban area, professionals, married, with a superior school education. 99.4 % have an active sexual life. The use of oral contraceptives is not a common practice, it is 2.3 %, as did the use of an intrauterine device 5.8 %. The intimate hygiene products are used by 44.4 % of the population studied. The history of sexually transmitted infections were reported by 8.8 % of the patients. No statistically significant association was found for candidiasis. Conclusions: The prevalence of vulvovaginal candidiasis is high. There were no factors associated with candidiasis in this study.
