    Calidad de vida antes y después de: adenoidectomía, amigdalectomía y adenoamigdalectomía en pacientes del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca, enero 2012 - junio 2016

    Background. The quality of life (QOL) is considered synonymous of welfare. Enlarged adenoids and tonsils affect quality of life, which has been researched worldwide, but previous studies have not been conducted locally. Objective. To determine the quality of life before and after: adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy and / or adenotonsillectomy in patients operated in the service of otolaryngology Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital (HVCM), from January 2012 to June 2016. Methodology. Quantitative, descriptive, observational, retrospective study; 74 children from 0 to 14 years operated on adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy and / or adenotonsillectomy in otolaryngology service of HVCM. The information was collected from medical records and data collection forms which consists Questionnaire OSA-18 and Graffar Scale modified. Statistical measures absolute frequency and percentage were used and McNemar test was calculated; using SPSS version 15.00 program evaluation. Results. The mean age was 7.01 ± 3.32, the disease was more common in males 56.8%, adenotonsillectomy surgery was performed most frequently 59.5%, the average socioeconomic level was below 39.2%; exist statistically significant differences in QOL before and after surgical treatment, McNemar p= 0,000a. Conclusions. Surgical treatment improves QOL in children with enlarged adenoids and tonsils with surgical indication
