Emotional intelligence is the capacity of people to evaluate their emotions and those of others and to use and regulate them properly. The proper use of feelings allows us to know them better and how to cope with situations assertively when adapting to social, work, and family environments. Publications in this field indicate that EI allows us to be more efficient and deal with difficulties better. This study had a cross-sectional and descriptive design type of non-experimental quantitative approach. The general objective was to determine the dimensions of emotional intelligence in 50 students of the ninth semester of the Visual Arts School of the University of Cuenca, in 2022-2023, according to the sociodemographic variables sex, gender, age, marital status, and if the student has children. The researcher used the sociodemographic record and the WLEIS-S emotional intelligence scale instrument to gather updated data that describe the characteristics of the students and the dimensions of EI according to the sociodemographic variables. This entire process will serve in future investigations and allow us to expand our knowledge about emotions.
