Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de los médicos posgradistas de la Universidad de Cuenca sobre el síndrome coronario agudo. Cuenca 2023
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-06-13) Quiñónez Lara, Bernard Steven; Rosales Ullauri, Hugo Eduardo
Acute coronary syndrome is a group of ischemic heart diseases and has become the main cause of death in Ecuador in the last 3 years. However, despite the high prevalence of this pathology, doctors seem to have difficulties in its identification, classification and stabilizing treatment. The objective of this research was to determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of postgraduate doctors at the University of Cuenca regarding acute coronary syndrome. An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out. Doctors enrolled in the Postgraduate program of the University of Cuenca who were in the first year of studies in 9 specialties were taken as participants. Sociodemographic factors, knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding acute coronary syndrome were studied; in addition, their diagnostic skills for ACS and their knowledge in its initial management were assessed. The KAP-CVD29 questionnaire was applied. Categorical variables were used and presented as frequency and percentages. The total scores obtained in the subscales were classified into categories based on quintiles: ≤20, “very insufficient”; 21 - 40, “insufficient”; 41 - 60, “enough”; 61 - 80, “satisfactory”; > 80, “very satisfactory.” The statistical analysis was carried out with IBM-SPSS v.23 and Microsoft Excel 2016. As a result, it was observed that postgraduate doctors from the University of Cuenca have a very satisfactory level of knowledge and attitudes about acute coronary syndrome and a satisfactory level of practices against it.
