In effect, three hypotheses were converged, indicating that liquidity, size, and location of the company influence the probability of credit risk. The results of the model significantly showed that companies located in the Sierra, large in size, and with high liquidity are those with the highest probability of risk. These derivations provide a predictive approximation of the credit risk of food companies, and a contribution to the discussion in business, academic, and scientific spaces

(2020) Campoverde Campoverde, Jorge Arturo; Flores Sánchez, Gustavo Geovanni; Coronel Pangol, Katherine Tatiana; Romero Galarza, Carlos Armando
This research constitutes the measurement of the efficiency of the Ecuadorian banking sector during the periods 1993-1999 and 2000-2018, applying the Data Envelope Analysis methodology, using the CCR and BCC approaches. The fixed asset and operating expense accounts were used as input variables for this purpose. The output variables were accounts receivable, income, investments and total deposits. Data were taken from monthly bulletins submitted by the different decision-making units to the Superintendencia de Bancos del Ecuador. The main findings indicate that the levels of efficiency during the 2000-2018 period were higher than in the 1993-1999 period. On average, during the first period, the banks had an efficiency ratio of 74.31%, according to the CCR approach, and 82.17%, according to the BCC approach. However, the efficiency levels during the second period reached 95.43% and 97.01%, respectively. In addition, the results show that large banks have a higher level of efficiency than smaller banks. However, medium-sized banks have the lowest level of efficiency. It should be noted that the data varies when analyzed according to the CCR approach. Furthermore, efficiency levels are generally associated with factors related to the country’s situation. This research is presented as one of the first studies on the analysis of efficiency in the Ecuadorian banking sector using this method.

(2017) Flores Sánchez, Gustavo Geovanni; Romero Galarza, Carlos Armando; Coronel Pangol, Katherine Tatiana; Campoverde Campoverde, Jorge Arturo
The business sector represents one of the fundamental axes in the economy of a country. It contributes to generate employment; development of the industrial, commercial and services sector. At the same time, the participation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises is noteworthy due to the large number of organizations in this category. It is important to emphasize in the short life cycle of these companies and the limitations that are present. Through a descriptive and a bivariate analysis, 113 micro-bakeries had been studied in the province of Azuay, which are affiliated to the Ministry of Industries and Productivity (MIPRO) of Region 6. The results show related behaviors between the average productivity per employee of the microenterprises and strategic business management, their productive capacity, their degree of innovation in machinery, the equipment and marketing systems and also on the requirement of additional financing for the growth of business. However, it is considered that it is a sector with limited skilled labor that does not allow an increase in productivity and competitiveness, which is a key factor in business development.
