(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-11-17) Calle Zambrano, Natalia Ericka; Rodriguez Robles, Carina Lisseth; Castillo Núñez, Jessica Ercilia
Gender stereotypes are present in teaching practice. These stereotypes foster inequalities, discrimination and prejudices that limit the comprehensive development of boys and girls. However, research in this regard is scarce in our context. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the perspectives of Basic Education teachers regarding the gender stereotypes reproduced in their teaching practice. The methodology used was under the qualitative approach, the instrument to collect the information was the semi-structured interview carried out with teachers of elementary basic education. The participants were 10 Basic Education teachers, both sexes, teachers graduated in the teaching specialization and who have worked for a minimum of 3 years in the urban context. Next, an elementary thematic analysis was carried out, which allowed knowing the perspectives of Basic Education teachers regarding gender stereotypes. As an important result, it was concluded that within educational institutions gender stereotypes still persist, but that these try to be eliminated by some teachers through teaching strategies.
