Item Prevalencia y distribución del Linfoma No Hodgkin y de la enfermedad de Hodgkin, según subtipo, edad y sexo en el Instituto del Cáncer de Solca Cuenca, en los años 2009-2014.(2016) Rodas Bustamante, Gabriela Tatiana; Tobar Cabrera, Claudia Patricia; Jerves Andrade, Miguel EnriqueBackground: Lymphomas are a group of hematologic neoplasms that affect the lymphatic system. Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) constitutes 1% and Non Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) 2 to 3% of neoplasms. Their presentation varies depending on age and sex. The increase in incidence of lymphoma has been faster than all cancers except for melanoma, lung and prostate cancer. Information about its frequency and distribution is from developed countries, but there is no up to date information in our country. Main Objective: To determine the frequency and distribution of lymphomas according to age, sex, clinical stage and histological subtype in patients of “Instituto Del Cáncer SOLCA Cuenca” from 2009 to 2014. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive transversal study took place. Data was transcribed from clinical records to the data recollection form. Tables and graphs were make using the SPSS software. Results: 507 patients were studied, most of which were men (52%). The most common type of lymphoma was NHL (88.95%) and its most common subtype was Diffuse Large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (53.44%). The frequency of NHL increases after the age of 70. Nodular sclerosis (NS) was found to be the most common subtype of HL (45.71%). The frequency of HL is higher in patients younger than 20. The most common clinical stage was stage III. Conclusions: The majority of lymphomas are NHL, most frequently found in men older than 70. The most common subtype of NHL is DLBCL while NS was the most common subtype of HL. Key Words: LYMPHOMA, RISK FACTORS, SOLCA, CUENCA
