Item Prevalencia de conducta ansiógena y factores asociados, en niños de quinto a séptimo de básica de las escuelas "Santo Domingo de Guzmán" y "Brasil" del cantón Gualaceo, año lectivo 2011-2012(2012) Ríos Garzón, Valeria Estefanía; Rodas Berrezueta, Flavio Alejandro; Quintero López, Sofía Paulina; Morocho Malla, Manuel IsmaelBackground: Anxiety disorders in children are a major health problem, showing a high prevalence. Objective: Determine the prevalence of anxiety disorder and its associated factors in children from fifth to seventh grade, from the schools "Santo Domingo" and "Brazil", in the town of Gualaceo, school year 2011-2012. Methods: Prevalence study that included 310 children in school age fromthe town of Gualaceo, for the diagnosis of anxiety disorder we used the IDAREN test, for family functioning FF-SIL test and for other variables we employed a questionnaire. We used the prevalence ratio with 95% and Pearson Chi square to demonstrate association between anxiety disorder and associated factors, in addition toP value for statistical significance. Results:Anxiety- trait stood at 15.8%, the average age stood at 10.10, the most prevalent gender was male with 76.1%, the 35.5% of students were enrolled in sixth year of basic education, 64.5 % of the population lives in urban areas of Gualaceo, 27.1% of the kids had dysfunctional families, did not show migration in 64.5% of the population, 12.6% of the population does not practice any sport. Conclusions: The anxiety disorder was more prevalent in the lower age, male sex, in rural areas, in children with dysfunctional families, with the presence of migration and those who perform physical activity. Only sex was statistically associated with anxiety
