(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-04-04) Rodas Abril, Pablo Abel; Saquipay Espinoza, Lisbeth Estefanía; Ulloa Peña, Ruth Esther
Previous studies mention the following factors that are associated with non-use of contraceptive methods, such as in the case of Dulanto R. et al (2022) conducted a study titled 'Factors Associated with the Non-Use of Contraceptive Methods in Adolescent Women in Peru: Endes 2018-2020.' The objective was to identify factors linked to the absence of contraceptive method use among women aged 15 to 19. The study highlighted factors such as not having children and not having a partner. Solis, et al (2023) have also emphasized factors like socioeconomic status, place of residence and inadequate sex education to avoid using contraceptives. The present research aims to identify up-to-date information on factors associated with non-use of contraceptive methods in adolescents. To achieve this, we used a narrative literature review will be used using a systematic search with PRISMA eligibility criteria, obtaining information from databases such as Pubmed, Science Direct, Scopus, Scielo. In this bibliographic analysis, updated and high-quality information was compiled, current information on factors influencing the lack of contraceptive method usage among adolescents. It's crucial to acknowledge that as nursing professionals, we hold a position close to adolescents and bear the responsibility of providing accurate, updated information about contraceptive methods. Additionally, it's essential to identify factors that could influence their decision not to use these methods.
