Item Frecuencia de valores anormales de antígeno prostático específico en hombres mayores de 40 años en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. 2019 – 2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-03-09) Rocano Benenaula, Franklin Javier; Saquicela López, Stalin Mauricio; Bigoni Ordóñez, Gabriele DavideBackground: Worldwide, prostate cancer represents the second leading cause of death in men, and its frequency increases with advancing age. It is estimated that one in six men will develop the disease in the course of his life, being a health problem due to its high mortality. The determination of the prostate antigen provides a diagnosis of prostate disorders and is more sensitive in early diagnosis because it rises in 65% of all cases, which allows accurate monitoring. Objective: to determine the frequency of abnormal prostate-specific cooling values in men over 40 years of age at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the 2019-2020 period. Methodology: a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional and retrospective study was carried out. The data was recorded using a form designed by the researchers. Excel and IBM SPSS programs were used for data analysis and tabulation. Data were presented using simple and cross tables to relate sociodemographic variables (age, ethnicity, and occupation) to PSA values. Results: the frequency of altered total PSA (≥4 ng/mL) was 216 cases (63.2%). The percentage of free PSA <10% had a frequency of 41 cases (19%). Regarding the free PSA/total PSA index <0.15, 93 people (43.1%) were found. The significant sociodemographic data found were: the age group between 71-80 years, the mestizo ethnic group, the occupation of farmer and the province of origin of Azuay.
