    Automedicación en adultos mayores con enfermedades crónicas - degenerativas no infecciosas que asisten a la consulta externa del Subcentro de Salud el Valle, Cuenca - 2015

    Background: The Self-medication according to the MSP 2014 is the administration of a drug without a prescription, on the initiative and risk of each person seeking relief from a particular disease or symptom; this practice in Ecuador has become a public health problem by the irresponsible and informed user and the serious consequences that occur in older adults. Objective: To determine the self-medication in older adults with chronic diseases - noninfectious degenerative attending outpatient health sub center El Valle, Cuenca - 2015. Methods and Materials: It is a descriptive study. The population consisted of Aging Patients with chronic degenerative diseases Infectious not attending outpatient SCS El Valle. Techniques and instruments: A direct interview for which a form developed by the authors was used was conducted. Data processing and presentation of results: The data were processed using the SPSS, Microsoft office Word and Excel results and the results are presented in simple tables and cross frequently and percentages. Results: The frequency of self-medication is of 98.85 %, the highest percentage 68.46 % in the age group 65 to 74 years old, according to the female sex was predominant with 62.41 %. The most consumed drugs are analgesics 57.43 % , the major cause that leads to self-medication is the time it takes to get an appointment to receive a turn for medical care 41.50 % , and the place of purchase are pharmacies pharmacies 65.99 %

    Automedicación en los adultos mayores que acuden a consulta en el Centro de Salud N° 4 Carlos Elizalde de la Parroquia Yanuncay, Cuenca, 2015

    Background: The auto-medication is part of nation wide culture, which has been acquired through generations, started with the use of ancestral medicine, until getting to the auto-medication that now days is at the reach of everyone. In Cuenca, the 11.7% of elders auto-medicate themselves. General Objective: Determine the auto-medication on elders that go for medical consultation to the Health Center N° 4 “Carlos Elizalde”, parish of Yanuncay, Cuenca 2015. Methodology: Is a descriptive study of a transversal cut. Effort was made to a grate diversity of 500 elders and a sample of 217 persons. A form of direct interview was made. The information was processed through the statistics programs SPSS 15, 0 and Excel Office; the results are shown in statistics tables of frequency and percentages. Results: A prevalence for auto-medication of 85, 6% was found, the majority of females 62,7%, and elder between 65-70 years old. The main cause for auto-medication reported was the lack of money and time to go to the Health Center 21,6%, the medicine mostly used where analgesics: 45,5% and antiviral drugs 28,7%, acquired in pharmacy´s 53,3% and at stores of the 37,7% Conclusions: The auto-medication is an obvious problem on the elders that do go for medical consultation to the Health Center “Carlos Elizalde” and is related with pathologic problems that accompany aging that demands the use of urgent medication for the immediate relieve of their issues, been acquired in places with easy access like pharmacy´s and stores do to the lack of time and money to go to the different health institutions

    Conocimiento materno sobre alimentación, nutrición y su relación con el estado nutricional de niños(as) menores de dos años que acuden al Subcentro de Salud de San Pedro del Cebollar durante mayo-julio 2013

    Objective: To determine maternal knowledge on food and nutrition and its relationship to the nutritional status of children under 2 years attending health sub-center San Pedro del Cebollar during May, June and July 2013. Material and methods: The research is descriptive study, were are working with a sample of 74 mothers was obtained of the universe consists of 280 mothers of children under 2 years q attended the health sub-center of San Pedro during May June and July 2012. Research techniques were; review of the clinical history to obtain the nutritional status of children under 2 years the interview to assess the level of knowledge mother and the data were processed and analyzed using Word and Excel. To ensure the ethical aspects of applied research informed consent of. Results: 50% of children are underweight and 1% overweight, are related to the lack of maternal knowledge about nutrition, food and the deterioration of the socioeconomic status of best quality. Conclusions: There is a direct relationship between the degree of maternal knowledge, socioeconomic status and nutritional status which confirms the theoretical basis that the nutritional status is an indicator of equity and shows the level of access to basic consumer goods Keywords: MATERNAL KNOWLEDGE, FOOD, NUTRITION, NUTRITIONAL STATUS.

    Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas en la administración de micronutrientes por parte de las madres de niños menores de 3 años que acuden al Sub-Centro de Salud de Sinincay 2016

    The Azuay Province currently has 712.127 habitants, of whom 68.713 are children representing 9.70% of the Ecuatorian population. According to records of the Ministry of Public Health, 5.80% of the People are overweight, 1.50% are obese, 24% have chronic child malnutrition, 30.9% are cases of childhood with anemia in Sinincay town. GENERAL OBJETIVE: Stablish the knowledge, attitudes and management practices of micronutrients by mothers of children under three years old who come to Sinincay Sub Health Center 2016. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This is a quantitative and descriptive research in which I was working with a sample of 101 mothers obtained from a total of 270 mothers of children under three years old whom attending to Sinincay Sub Health Center 2016. The data collection was conducted throught an interview using a form of 27 questions. The data was processed into the program SPSS, versión 23, two by two tables, and graphics for publishing, Word Excel was also in use. To ensure the ethical aspects approved was obtained by giving the right information to the mothers. RESULTS • The 101 mothers who were taken as evidence by Pita Hernandez formula for this respective study, 40% have a good level of knowledge about the administration of micronutrients. • 73% of mothers have a positive attitude when they manage their children by micronutrients. • The practice in this administration turned out to be at a relevant level, where 39% preform at an excellent level and other 39% at a good level

    El desarrollo psicomotor y la calidad de la atención temprana

    A transversal study was conducted to determine the relation between alert psychomotor development of children, 0 to 5 years old, and the quality of early attention of public and private Child Development Centers in the Municipality of Cuenca. The survey was conducted from August to December 2009 and consisted in measuring the attention process, the professional level of caretakers, available infrastructure, and family involvement. Using a simplified cluster sampling approach, 30 centers were randomly selected out of 166 centers. The composition of the sample of children was based on the following considerations: 5% delay in development, 3% error of inference, 95% confidence interval and 10% loss, resulting in a sample of 447 (n) out of a total study population of 8145 (N) children excluding the children with previous diagnosis of disability. To test the children’s delay in development the scale of Nelson-Ortiz (1999) was used. 23,3% of the centers were public, 23,3% had no legal registration, 10% of the centers were serving children with disability, 20% were rated as having very good quality, 3,3% good and 76,7% poor. Of the children surveyed 26% were not evaluated in their respective centers, 72,7% had teachers without professional qualification. The prevalence of children with alert development was 10,5% (IC 95%: 7,8 to13,7%), of these 79,6% had no record of detection and 93,9% were not referred for diagnosis or intervention or curricular adaptations. A significant relationship (p < 0,05) between the quality of early attention and the alert development of children was found.

    Determinación del grado de ansiedad en los pacientes del área de Gastroenterología de la consulta externa del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso que se van a realizar una colonoscopia -2015

    Background: Anxiety is a negative nerve stimulation resulting in somatic and mental disorders, which occurs in patients prior to a biological therapeutic procedure, which somehow breaks the proper development and recovery of the medical procedure. Adjective: Determine the degree of anxiety in the patients of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso Gastroenterology area, ranging to undergo a colonoscopy. Methodology: A quantitative study of descriptive with a sample of 102 patients in the area of gastroenterology HVCM. The technique used was the interview and the instrument was the Test of Hamilton. The tabulation and analysis of data was performed in SPSS version 15 and Excel. The results are shown in tables and simple graphics and dual input. Using the results: of the 102 patients evaluated 56.9% for the female, the average age is 52.89 years, 34.3% are young adults adults followed by means 29.4%, 65.7% are married, 41.2% have completed a full primary, 61.8% are in rural areas. The moderate level of anxiety was 86.3%, which was presented in females by 49%, 38.2% of patients with anxiety have low education and 28.4% are young adults. The investigation concluded that the anxiety is present in all patients prior to procedures, generating so that process is limited to medical equipment and even more so for the patient.

    The objective of this research is: "To assess the quality of care offered by nine early, Child Development Centers INFA, the urban area of the canton Cuenca children aged zero to five years with or without developmental disorders and / or disability during the period January to June 2009. METHODS AND MATERIALS: This study is descriptive quantitative considered to nine child development centers INFA Guangzhou Urban Area Basin, for which it was handled previously developed a form, which valued the quality of care in these centers , scored over 100 points which were distributed in four variables: infrastructure, process of care, skill and family involvement, or caregivers with a value of 25 points per variable. After collecting the information from each of the data centers were tabulated and analyzed, using the statistical program SPSS as. The results were used to achieve the objectives of the Program "Improving Quality of Care for children from 0-5 years old with developmental disorders with or without disabilities in the catchment area of the Canton Urban Area" which is performed by DIUC, with children the ultimate beneficiaries.

    Factores que influyen en el cumplimiento del rol del personal de salud en la promoción y prevención de la salud de los adultos mayores que acuden al Centro de Salud el Tambo y San Gerardo en la Troncal, período 2016

    Objective. - To determine the factors that influence the fulfillment of the role of health personnel in the promotion and prevention of the health of the elderly who attend the Health Center El Tambo and San Gerardo, in the province of Cañar. METHODS AND TECHNIQUES: A descriptive, quantitative, observational study was carried out between March and July 2016, with a universe of 31 professionals working at the El Tambo and San Gerardo Health Center. The technique used was direct observation and the survey. For the ethical aspects, the informed consent of the health personnel was used, the instruments were: questionnaire and observation guide. Results: The health centers of El Tambo and San Gerardo developed predominantly healing activities, with 39.02%, prevention activities, with the identification of individual and family risk being identified 36,36%; The factors that influence the fulfillment of the role are the staff deficit, material endowment; The staff is mostly female with 58.06%, has work experience 38.71%, 74.19% of the staff has a third level degree, and 45% is single civil status.     Factores que influyen en el nivel de conocimientos sobre el esquema P.A.I del Centro de Salud N°. 1 Azogues 2014

    Objective: This research had as objective; identify the factors that influence the level of knowledge of the teen moms on the schema of the expanded program of immunization (EPI) from the #1 Center of the city of Azogues. Material and methods: This is a transverse descriptive investigation in which we worked with a sample of 106 adolescent mothers who attended the outpatient Health Center # 1 of the city of Azogues during the months of August and September of 2014. For collection of the information we used the technique of the Interview addressed to the mothers, and as an instrument, a semi-structured survey made by the authors, this form consisted of 9 questions in which we valued the level of knowledge of the mothers about immunizations. The form included questions to determine the socio-demographic characteristics to study the population. For the analysis of the information, we used the descriptive statistics and it was processed in Microsoft Excel and Word. This data is presented in tables. Results: The 67% of mothers are in their late adolescence, and 53.8% have completed high school education. The 83% of mothers have knowledge about vaccination that protects them from illnesses, 89. 6% understand the information provided in the immunization card. However, only 36.8% have a correct knowledge of at what aged they must vaccinate their children, the 37.71% have a partial knowledge and the rest of the mothers represented by the 25.49% are unaware of this aspect.

    Factores que influyen en la prevalencia de bullyng en estudiantes de los colegios rurales del Cantón Cuenca, Azuay, 2014.

    Objective: To determine the factors that influence in the prevalence of bullying among students from rural schools in Cuenca, Azuay, 2014 Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 493 students (283 men and 210 women) from 11 to 19 years old. The sample selection is performed by simple randomization. Data were collected through a self-applied survey; the instruments used were the questionnaire bullying CIE-A (Modified) and the Test of Family APGAR. The data were processed in SPSS 19 program. Results: The prevalence of bullying in the students from rural high schools in Cuenca is 20.0% in women, and 17.3 in men. The bullying was more evident in students from eighth, ninth and tenth year with a 21.9%. The more frequent aggression was the damage to the ownership with a 98.6%. The risk factors found were an unfavorable school environment with a 71.4%, an unfavorable familiar environment also with a 71.4%, and finally a 42.2% unfavorable individual environment. Conclusions: A significant prevalence of bullying among students in rural schools from Cuenca was found, and there is a significant association with the same family, school and individual factors which are unfavorable
