Item Mi planta de naranja lima de José Mauro de Vasconcelos, como mediación lectora para el primero de bachillerato General Unificado(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-26) Rivera Gallegos, Erika Magdalena; Rivera Gallegos, Diana Abigail; Arízaga Andrade, Jorge ArturoIn Ecuador, literacy levels in high school students have experienced a notable deterioration due to a variety of factors, including the influence of new technologies. For this reason, an analysis was carried out at the “Miguel Merchan” Educational Unit during the internship of the Language and Literature Pedagogy career, where deficiencies in the reading skills of students in the first year of high school were evidenced. It was crucial to awaken the interest of the new generations in these cognitive skills, which are so important for their personal and academic development. In order to address this problem, we intend to promote reading mediation in Unified General High School students through the analysis and understanding of the literary work Mi Planta de Naranja Lima by José Mauro de Vasconcelos. This initiative seeks to develop critical, reflective and communicative skills in students, fostering a taste for reading and its use as a tool for learning and personal growth. The research was characterized by a mixed approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods to strengthen the analysis. Data were collected through written texts from students and interviews with the teacher in charge of the level. An action research model proposed by Colmenares and Piñero (2008) and Hernández, Fernández and Baptista (2010) was applied. The author Ricoeur (2004) was used for the analysis of the literary novel. The results obtained validated the selected strategies, generating an improvement in the students' performance in reading skills.
