(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-03-16) Mendoza Cordero, Tatiana Estefanía; Rivas Pesantez, Manuel Israel; Flores Sánchez, Gustavo Geovanni
This article analyzes the current relationship and a comparison between the different types of innovation and technology with the business performance of Ecuadorian and Colombian companies. Because of companies are currently in a new phase of development, innovation and technology take a fundamental role, with this, organizations seek to evolve and become more competitive. To obtain results, the World Bank database for the year 2017 was used, providing a sample of 1,354 data from Ecuador and Colombia. For the comparison of qualitative variables Pearson's Chi-square is used, for the quantitative variables MannWhitney U is used, and to verify the relationships, Spearman and multiple linear regressions by Ordinary Least Aquares (OLS) are used. The results obtained show that Colombian companies that spend on marketing/branding of new products/services and that spend on Research and Development exert a significant positive influence of 95%, on real sales growth, compared to the Ecuadorian ones. These findings reinforce the postulates that show innovation and R&D spending as a sustainable competitive advantage, when talking about business effectiveness
