The Herrerias sector is a place of great cultural value, with religious, cultural, educational, and health facilities among others. Among the most representative are the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, the Plaza del Herrero, Casa the Chaguarchimbana, the Daniela Córdova High School and Solca, which are spaces with high permanence rates. However, the Plaza del Herrero has been perceived as a place lacking attractive urban elements such as resting furniture, green areas, and lighting, leading to its abandonment and resulting in social problems such as crime and vandalism. Regarding the Daniel Córdova High School, being a site of congregation during school entry and exit hours, there is high vehicular flow, diminishing the prominence of pedestrian and student spaces, thus hindering circulation towards the Plaza del Herrero and generating a disconnection with the site. This leads to the are becoming disorganized and unsafe, unsuitable for a conducive learning environment. To address these issues, a diagnosis of the site was conducted, analyzing the urban context and involving both sectors to develop urban-architectural strategies that can benefit the community in social, economic, and cultural aspects.
