Item Asociación entre el craving por alcohol y el control de impulsos en adultos que pertenecen a comunidades terapéuticas para problemas de adicción, en Cuenca-Ecuador 2023-2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-29) Baculima Arpi, Paúl Xavier; Reyes Trelles, Xavier FabricioThe lack of impulse control and craving, with its dimensions of intense desire and disinhibition towards any substance to which there is an addiction, are key factors in relapse and lack of success in treatment and rehabilitation. The objective of this research was to describe the association between alcohol craving and impulse control in adults who belong to therapeutic communities, in Cuenca-Ecuador during the period 2023-2024. Through convenience sampling, we worked with 86 people diagnosed with alcohol use disorder, belonging to the Centro de Reposo y Adicciones Hospital Psiquiátrico Humberto Ugalde Camacho (24), the Centros Especializados en Tratamiento a Personas con Consumo Problemático de Alcohol y otras drogas EXITUS (11), and the Austro district of Narcóticos Anónimos (51). The research had a quantitative, non-experimental, and cross-sectional approach with a correlational scope. Two instruments were used: the Multifactorial Alcohol Craving Scale, to measure craving, and for impulse control, the Ramón y Cajal Impulse Control Scale. The results indicated moderate levels of alcohol craving and impulse control. A statistically significant association was also found between these. It is concluded that as craving and impulse control are associated, both variables should be considered at the time of intervention.Item Burnout y bienestar psicológico en docentes de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-27) Molina Marín, Erika Cristina; Reyes Trelles, Xavier FabricioThe current concept of burnout refers to the psychological syndrome that arises from prolonged exposure to work-related stressors. This syndrome manifests itself mainly in workers whose occupations involve dealing with others such as teachers and doctors. On the other hand, psychological well-being incorporates job satisfaction, professional commitment, and general life satisfaction. Therefore, examining the balance between the personal and work life of teachers has become a crucial avenue of research due to the implications for educational outcomes. This study, with a quantitative approach, non-experimental cross-sectional design and correlational scope, aims to determine the correlation between burnout syndrome (BS) and psychological well-being (PWB) in teachers of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca. In total 33 teachers responded to the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the adapted PERMA profile. Correlations between SB dimensions and sociodemographic variables were examined. Descriptive analyzes were performed and statistical tests were chosen based on the distribution characteristics of the data. In conclusion, this population does not manifest Burnout syndrome. However, the findings revealed statistically significant correlations between BP and the SB dimensions of personal accomplishment and emotional exhaustion. Likewise, four sociodemographic variables: daily medication intake, weekly hours of classes, months of work, and number of subjects, influence the SB. Finally, it is intended that this study contributes to the development of preventive interventions to ensure better mental health and work performance among university teachers.Item Burnout y depresión en docentes de la Unidad Educativa Francisca Dávila de Muñoz de la ciudad de Cuenca, 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-01-25) Placencia Orellana, Nancy Patricia; Reyes Trelles, Xavier FabricioThe way in which primary education teachers address changes in the workplace environment influences the perception of stress and psychological well-being at work, potentially contributing to the development of depressive processes. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to correlate burnout syndrome and depression among teachers at the Francisca Dávila de Muñoz Educational Unit in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, in 2023. A non-experimental, crosssectional quantitative approach with a correlational scope was employed. The Zung SelfRating Depression Scale, the Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire, and a sociodemographic data sheet were administered to 39 teachers. The results revealed low levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and high levels of personal accomplishment. Overall, it is concluded that there was an absence of burnout syndrome, and similarly, the majority did not exhibit depression. No statistically significant association was found between the levels of burnout syndrome dimensions and depression levels, nor between these two factors and sociodemographic variables. Ultimately, the nature of teaching involves social interaction, which may act as a protective factor against developing depression. It is suggested that future research consider a larger sample size and the use of instruments adapted to the context.Item Consumo de alcohol y síndrome de burnout en conductores de transporte mixto del cantón Paute, periodo 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-07-23) Cáceres Once, Hernán Enrique; Reyes Trelles, Xavier FabricioAlcohol consumption, even in minimal doses, can alter essential brain functions. Every member interacts through their personal traits, such as personality, with the entire system dynamic. The purpose of the following research is to identify personality dimensions and relate them to the perception of family functioning in a population of 64 parents from the city of Cuenca, whose families are composed of a member with Autism Spectrum Disorder. EPQR-A and FF-SIL tests were used as measurement tools. The methodological process followed a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design, and a correlational scope. Resilience, understood as the ability to overcome adversity, and emotional intelligence, which involves identifying, understanding, and regulating emotions, are essential for psychological well-being in emerging adulthood. The general objective was to describe the levels of resilience and the dimensions of emotional intelligence in the studied population. A quantitative methodology with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design was used, applying the RS-14 Resilience Scale and the TMMS-24 questionnaire, complemented by a sociodemographic record. A total of 266 students were selected through random sampling, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with the SPSS software. The results showed that 77.1% of participants had high or very high levels of resilience, while 9.1% presented low or very low levels. Regarding emotional intelligence, gender differences were identified: women excelled in emotional attention and repair but faced challenges in regulation. Students in advanced academic cycles and urban areas demonstrated better competencies in both variables. It is concluded that resilience and emotional intelligence are interdependent and essential for academic well-being. However, some vulnerable groups require specific interventions. These findings provide a basis for designing support programs that promote effective coping strategies and emotional development in university students.
