Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic, multisystemic, autoimmune disease of variable manifestation, which presents within its periods of remission and exacerbation with complications that increase its mortality. This study determines the frequency of SLE and its complications in the Hospital de Especialidades José Carrasco Arteaga in the period January 2017 - December 2021. It is a descriptive and retrospective study. The anonymized database was reviewed, the information was collected with the form developed by the authors and the SLEDAI -2K activity index scale. Tabulation and analysis were performed with the Excel matrix and the SPSS program. We reviewed 432 data of patients with diagnosis of SLE; 385 women and 47 men, showing a predominance of patients older than 45 years (48.15%), the mean age was 46 years and all were of mixed race. The 80.8% presented complications; the most frequent being infectious (48.38%), renal (40.3%), and neurological (33.8%). Some 16.7% had pulmonary, 8.8% cardiovascular and 3.5% oncohematologic complications, which occurred simultaneously in some patients. Of the renal complications, lupus nephritis was the most frequent. Among neurological complications, neuropsychiatric complications occurred in 24.77%. In pulmonary complications, parenchymal involvement was 8.8%. In cardiovascular diseases, peripheral arterial disease was present in 6.71%. And in oncohematologic, non-hematologic disease was 10.88%. Moderate and mild activity was present in 13.9% and 11.8%, respectively. In-hospital mortality was 4.2%.
