Item Concepciones sobre ciencia, enseñanza y aprendizaje de los profesores de la Universidad de Cuenca y la relación con sus prácticas docentes e investigativas(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-09-29) Ayabaca Pineda, Tania Mabel; Ramírez Gallegos, Jacques PaulScience, since it became the main way of explaining reality and was socialized through school, has had and continues having a fundamental impact on the development of our history as human beings, since it has been shaping our culture, and, above all, our way of thinking, contributing to the formation of a conception of man, the world and society. In this sense, epistemology, specifically, the conceptions of science are closely linked to teaching. With de purpose of reflecting about the pedagogical task and initiating an educational resignification -from the evident fact that we live in a deep crisis of our certainties and require new methods and instruments of thought and action, in relation to creation, diffusion and application of knowledge- we inquire into the conceptions and practices of university professors about the meaning of science, its teaching and learning. The methodological proposal has a phenomenological qualitative approach. The case study is selected as method, in-depth interviews and documentary analysis are chosen as data production techniques. The results show a profile of teachers defined by an eclectic tendency towards science, and by a constructivist tendency on learning and teaching. It is detected that there is a lack of epistemological coherence between the conceptions of science and the teaching model of teachers.Item Dinámicas de exclusión e inclusión a migrantes en la ciudad de Cuenca, Ecuador: el caso de la migración venezolana(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-11-12) García Galarza, Jessica Carolina; Ramírez Gallegos, Jacques PaulThis thesis is based on ethnographic work with people in a human mobility condition of Venezuelan nationality settled in the city of Cuenca, Azuay province, Ecuador. Through their life histories and migratory trajectories, the following are described: a) migratory biographies, profiles and migratory patterns, as well as their dreams and expectations, taking into account the context of their native country and the receiving country; b) the practices of exclusion, expressed through the different forms of discrimination -racism, xenophobia, aporophobia-, and material or symbolic violence, produced and reproduced from the different levels of the State and national society, which condition the reality that Venezuelan migrants live, and c) the dynamics of inclusion that are gestated from associations, organizations and groups in order to contribute to the social inclusion of migrant families in vulnerable situations.Item La presencia de minorías étnicas en el cantón Cuenca: el caso de los afrodescendientes y su organización social(2017) Ortega Jiménez, Juanita Andrea; Ramírez Gallegos, Jacques PaulThis research studies the influence of racial hierarchies on interethnic relations, regarding Afro-descendent population in the canton of Cuenca. The objective is to analyze the presence of Afro-descendent population in Cuenca’s canton, as well as their forms of organization to claim their rights. This is based on the hypothesis that in Cuenca’s society framework that resulted from a colonial social construction, Afro-descendent communities still have limited access to exercise their human rights. As a consequence of that, Afro-descendent communities have sought to use socio-cultural organization as a political strategy to strengthen their identity, develop awareness and propose public policies to reverse the situation. This research includes a theoretical analysis of the social structure created to support the social imaginary above mentioned, as well as secondary sources and an ethnographic study that support what is stated in the hypothesis. The research concludes by stating that, despite the shift from colonialism to capitalism and the public policies promoted by the State such as the Decree 060 signed in 2009, social imaginaries that exclude Afro-descendent population still remain, this is reflected in their limitation to exercise their social rights; to overcome that, Afro-descendent communities have used social organization as a powerful tool to stop discrimination.
