In our country the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador, there is no specific reference to informed consent, but the Health Act, and the Code of Medical Ethics of Ecuador, is detailed in the form of information and authorization by the patient. (1) The study is descriptive, transversal, and the sample consisted of 142 out of 178 doctors who worked the Hospital Regional "Vicente Corral Moscoso" Ecuador, Cuenca during the period January to June 2011, whose data were collected through surveys. The objective was to determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of physicians compared to informed consent. Besides establishing the characteristics of the surveyed population, differentiate degrees of knowledge, attitudes and practices in relation to age, sex, specialty, university hospital area submitted and assigned. The results were tabulated, analyzed and represented in tables and charts using the SPSS statistical program. Completed the study, we can see that the regional hospital doctors Vicente Corral Moscoso have a better appreciation as to attitudes and practices about informed consent with an overall average of 81.57% compared with the theoretical knowledge of informed consent, obtained an overall average of 66.9%, the figures obtained show that the hospital doctors are not sufficiently informed to handle informed consent, but you need to know it in more detail, thus making better doctor-patient relationship, so the information obtained is very valuable and useful for medical staff Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, medical students and the general population.
