Item Relación entre la satisfacción de la imagen corporal y las habilidades sociales en estudiantes del Colegio de Bachillerato Benigno Malo de la ciudad de Cuenca, periodo 2022-2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-04-26) Quizhpi Sarmiento, Kathya Elizabeth; Piña Pillajo, Daniela del Rocío; Heras Benavides, Dalila NatalyThe satisfaction with the body image is a theoretical construction that includes a perceptive, cognitive and an emotional component that carries social aspects as the relation with the environment and the development of social skills to achieve a social interaction. For that reason, the following hypothesis is proposed: if there is more satisfaction with the body image, there are higher levels of social skills. Consequently, the main target of this research is determining the relationship between the variables before mentioned in an adolescent population. To develop this research, it has used a quantitative approach with a non- experimental design and a correlational scope. The sample was 240 students at Benigno Malo High School that are 15 to 17 years old. The instruments applied were the “Escala de Habilidades Sociales de Gismero '' and the Stunkard silhouettes. The results showed 52% are satisfied with their body image, whereas 54% have low levels of social skills. Besides that, to carry out the correlation Spearman test was used with a p value of -.237 that represents a negative weak correlation between the variables. In conclusion, there is a relationship between satisfaction with body image and social skills, but it's almost null. That means when one variable increases the other one decreases.
