    Análisis envolvente de datos para medir la eficiencia del sector hotelero de la ciudad de Cuenca en los años 2017 y 2018

    The accommodation sector in the cities of Ecuador represents a dynamic axis of the economy, due to its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (2.8%) and the generation of jobs. However, in the years 2016 - 2018 there is evidence of a decrease in income and the number of tourists, a situation that worries the Tourism Foundation for Cuenca. Reason why, the main objective of this research work is to analyze the level of efficiency of the hotel sector in the city of Cuenca, for this a population sample of 21 hotels and 16 hostels of different categories will be used, which will be evaluated through the analysis Data Envelope (DEA) oriented towards maximizing outputs (BCC). The results show that 57.14% of the establishments present a high level of efficiency, 19.05% average and 23.81% low. In the case of establishments that presented inefficiency, the findings made it possible to show that in order to generate a greater degree of efficiency, a readjustment of existing resources is necessary, generating greater added value.
