This study was conducted in rural communities Ludo, San Juan and San Bartolomé, located in the Azuay privincia on breastfeeding and weaning practices. The universe of study were the mothers of the communities Ruizho, Guanna, Iñazari [San Bartolome]; Uzhar, Dungla, San Juan Center [San Juan]; Cashapugro, Atobolo [Ludo]; availing ourselves of predesigned forms surveys. 90 percent of mothers gave breastfeed their children at birth and carry out no fixed schedule, which is consistent with the annotated bibliographies. One third of these mothers had lesions or sore nipples which led to suppress lactation in 40 percent of them. 90 percent of mothers giving colostrum and mostly have good practices and knowledge about breastfeeding

n our study, 100 children from the School Alberto Amdrade city of Cuenca are taken, considering ages of 5-14, they are in first through seventh year of basic education; the sample is 33.3 percent of school students. During the period October 1999 to July 2000. We obtained information through a form for tabulation and use the EPI-INFO program. Of the 100 students 58 were males, 42 females. This work was done with the participation of a group of parents, mostly from family units to determine the attitudes, knowledge and practices play and recreation, which allows us to meet the objectives. So it has been found that most of them are of primary followed by secondary education, of which the largest number of parents practice some form of recreation. This study allowed us to know and identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices of parents of students of the Public School in July Matovelle ity of Cuenca, opposite the recreation and games during the school year 1999-2000. Collaboration and participation of 90 parents of that establishment, gave us data collection and information about the role of games in physical and mental development of children. Most parents surveyed consider the game as a form of recreation and fun, and others as a way of knowing reality; which reveals that a large percentage is of secondary educational instruction, and therefore have a clear idea of what the game really is. Also, the attitude that parents play, emphasizes that most of them working with the game of their children, and that this constitutes a good opportunity to be with them. The results presented below are intended to describe the data obtained from surveys and identify the influence of play and recreation as a means to improve the quality of life and education of children

This study conducted between 1999 and 2000 allowed to identify the knowledge, skills and practices of parents over children play outside the Abdon Calderon School Turi parish, the canton Cuenca. Data collection was provided by 99 parents of the aforementioned School prior to this bibliographic research about the game, its components and relationships stages was performed. With great pleasure to see that parents play is a way to meet and prepare their children for the future, but they are the first people that prohibit gambling as a form of punishment. The results of this study confirm that the game facilitates learning while playing and recreational activities take place in the neighborhood, it lacks the necessary infrastructure; Parents have the primary responsibility to promote the game, plus TV has great influence negatively distorting reality of the child. We really believe that the game must be inserted into our society as a method of education
